Because NHL.... same as dumb refs in the NFL blowing plays dead when players are running back fumbles or pick 6's rather than letting the play happen and determining afterwards.

I have no idea what the technical ruling is by the rules, but in terms of what's the "right" call I think it was probably that Larkin's goal shouldn't count.

The ref points at the net before the puck is in. He's calling it a goal.

Have they ever actually clarified the difference between when it's "intent to blow" and you're screwed and when it's a "continuation" and it counts because they would have scored anyway? Because it still seems like they just do whatever they're feeling like.
