I am sorry you have to live in the US. In the rest of the civilized world you would never lose your job over that. You would get help.

Did Mika seek help? There are options to enroll in mental health programs, he never did. And if you don't seek help and you just stop doing your job you would lose your job. Your point would make a lot more sense if Mika took a mental health break.

If anyone would know about this it would be you, but are you speculating or do you have a link where it's confirmed from him that he had panic attacks? I'm not interested in anything that's conjecture.
To be clear, I am talking strictly about this season. I have no idea what Snowblind is on about saying Mika have had mental struggles previous seasons.

In a swedish interview early in the season he mentioned his on ice struggles were all mental. As to the panic attacks that is just speculation but we all could see him visibly not all there in the game against the Jets where Miller had to call on the ref to stop play and Mika had to be lead off the ice.

Struggles being mental is vague as hell. A loss of confidence or the yips are mental but is not the same as struggling with a mental illness

The issue then is why did the Rangers hand him a full nmc contract for that long knowing he mentally can't handle it all the time?
I can't answer because I really do not know what is happening and to what degree. I never read this before. Also no idea when it started if accurate. Feel weird about commenting about it without knowing if its 100% accurate. You know some things on HF are just assumed so lets hold off.

We have no idea whats going behind the scenes between Mika and his employer and that is none of our business. Maybe he is seeing a sports psychologist and that has helped him.

Then everything you're saying is bullshit. You're projecting and it's unfair to him to spread this around. There's a ton of runway between having panic attacks & depression or struggling to find your game on the ice.

There are plenty of programs that players can enroll in. If he is so depressed that he was a net negative he should have enrolled in one of those programs or had his role reduced. Once again, if you are prone to anxiety and depression then maybe professional sports isn't for you. I'm prone to both things and I made choices in my career where I go for less pressure than in other possible careers. And there are very few options available to me as high stress as the NHL.

Absolutely agree and I have never said that he is suffering from mental illness.

All I am saying is that these players are human beings and they go through shit in life like everybody else and that can affect them. Not everything has to be a physical injury.

You are the most obtuse f***er on these boards. Everybody and their mother has been commenting on how depressed he looked for months yet somehow you decide to put your foot down when I mention it.

20 minutes ago you literally posted this....

Mika himself talked about it being a mental issue. Dude was visibly depressed and had panic attacks. Not everything has to be physical. Elite athletes are human beings.

How did HFNYR react to him talking about mental issues? He was ridiculed and called soft.
Depression is the epitome of a mental illness. You should probably walk all of this back.

Yet here you are refusing to address what you were directly called out on. But go on, keep doubling down & throwing personal insults at me when you have no answer.
