Richards and Carter have been on the ice for more goals against than any Kings forwards the last two seasons. There is a reason some of us don't want these guys together, the defensive numbers are just hideous.

So don't improve your chances to get Richards going again because then we won't finish the season as the #1 defensive team in the league? Who cares...

The team needs more goals...they're not changing their philosophy so they have to change their personnel or the lines Richards takes a beating on these boards, his goals are down and the fact is coming into this season 51.4% of his points since Carter came to LA have involved JC77. This season, only 31.4% of his points have involved Carter and according to most people here, he's having a down-season.

He needs to play with Carter or he's a 3rd line center at best.

But why put together two terrible defensive players, especially on a team that even when rolling has trouble putting in goals. Sutter and Lombardi preach defense, those two were just to bad defensively to keep sending them out there. Sutter briefly tried it again in Columbus, they scored a goal but were on the ice for 2 more ES goals against.

Carter is the Kings best winger, Kopitar is the Kings best center who also happens to be an elite defensive center who can mask some of JC's shortcomings.

If Richards is a 3rd line center without Carter then it is time to either trade or buyout this summer. Richards should be able to form a competent 2nd line with Brown and Williams.
 
What a spectacular 4 minute powerplay. I think if you gave the Kings an entire period with the man advantage they'd struggle to get double digits in shots on goal.
