As much as I would like to see real
Pain from a Caps player, they are holding back. They can really hurt a lot of our young players easily. They are in the playoffs abd we are not but I don’t see us doing anything really serious this game.

He should have been the first one out. If you're going to fire anybody though, it didn't need to come until the end of the season. I'm more upset with the JD firing than I am Gordon. Either way, happening a day after that statement is just a bad look. Maybe they didn't agree and thought it was a little harsh. I'm sure they were the ones having to answer to every media person, writer, and NHL analysis.

You have to think it's related to the press release and/or Wilson fight. Why would it happen NOW and not in less than a week? Why would Quinn still be here if it's all about performance? I don't deny that Dolan hasn't been happy with an underachieving team but if that's his problem Quinn shouldn't be here.

Deserves repeating: Our three toughest players are all out, and the team isn't done being re-built. The guys that were just fired recognized the need for more grit, which is why they drafted Schneider and Cuylle, who are exactly the kind of player built for a game like this. It's nice to see the rest of the roster have a pulse for a change, but it's not like the team has been ignoring sandpaper. It just isn't here yet.
