I think the travel, mental fatigue, and getting yourself mentally prepared and focused for the next game is the biggest part. I don't think a 20 hour turnaround while playing at home would be much of an issue but traveling can suck. I remember playing hockey tournaments as a kid and having 2 games a day in back to back days, then the "gold medal" game would be an early Sunday game. My sister would play in the womens tournament in Brampton every year and they would play multiple games a day as well. Of course we were kids and had endless energy, but you could also look at it from the perspective of these guys being professional athletes who have been playing their entire lives and train year round.

Oh yes I'm sure they were 2 3 hour games/day. Against the best competition in the world

Im respectfully pointing out simple facts for thought, im not sure I see the point of a snarky comment. I think a much bigger factor would be individual effort regardless of the level of competition. Kids don't get 18 minutes to rest between periods. Kids probably arent eating as high quality of food as these pros are. Its also pretty common for youth teams to ice 14-16 skaters, some teams may have even less, some may have more. Most kids would also hit the hotel pool or play mini sticks for hours after games while most of the parents had drinks. There are countless factors one could point out both ways, im just making the argument that although I don't believe fatigue in a back to back is a total non factor, its often very overstated. Back to backs on the road have to suck exponentially worse though.

Schedule is no excuse. Maybe they'll be a bit fatigued, but they're hot so bring it on. Lots of young legs on the team now and Kane shouldn't be any slower than normal. Goaltending looms large again and the schedule isn't a big deal for rotating goalies. Canucks have their own issues too with new players, Hughes maybe not 100 per cent, first game back from tough road trip and having played every second day for what will now be their sixth straight game with lots of travel between them.

According to dailyfaceoff.com, they're replacing Tarasenko with Kane on the 2nd line; but bumping Tarasenko to third line and Berggren to 4th line and bumping Shine to the press box.

JFC.

Here's what they should have done, if we must reinsert Kane:

Kasper-Larkin-Raymond
Debrincat-Veleno-Berggren
Soderblom-Rasmussen-Kane
Fischer-Copp-Shine

Then use Kane on PP2, not PP1. PP2 needs help. I think I'd use AlJo on PP2 instead of Gustafsson.

I'm sort of curious to see what Kane would do with Soderblom. The big guy has shown some nice hands, moves, and shot. You give him a high-IQ setup guy, that might be magic. And Rasmussen's d-first mentality might make up for Kane's gliding.

It's something like a 20 hour turnaround between the end of yesterday's game and puck drop today.

Ridiculous.
Yeah, I’m just now realizing we have a game today. I didn’t think it was a possibility so didn’t bother to check

All the Pettersson slappies on this board should be excited about this one.

Not too worried about the B2B tonight. The only players getting heavy minutes are younger anyways. And we are catching Vancouver during some of their own turmoil.

Getting Kane back should help the PP and 2nd line. Let’s go Wings!

How was the logical thing not to just keep this winning lineup entirely the same and swap out Tank for Kane? Do we really need to hear about Tank “searching for his 300th goal” for another month before he’s scratched? The guy has 2 goals in his last 27 games.

If they are indeed breaking up that Elmer - Ras - Burger line... then... I might toss something at the screen.
I love what McLellan has done, but his lineup decisions aren’t always on point. I don’t need to see Holl on the PK or Chiarot in OT.

I don’t think they will. But it wouldn’t be the end of the world.
Nothing happening in a sports game is the end of the world, but they’ve been dangerous every other shift and have been producing. They’ve given us arguably the only functional 3rd line we’ve had all season.
