I don't that's the case. Every team is at different stages. A team that's looking to go for a cup, isn't looking for a reclamation project. A bubble playoff team is looking for a proven contributor to help them get over the edge

The hockey IQ remark is dead on.

Coyle had a very nice look by carrying the puck straight towards the net. Not at all thinking about passing. Almost scored.
Lohrei made a nice move and headed to the net not thinking at all about passing. He pots one in.

Beecher on the other hand comes over the blueline, sees a Sabre come towards him, craps his pants then makes a careless 6' pass which results in a turnover.
Lazy!

There is no attention to detail on this team anymore. It's crazy the amount of lazy passes that get turned over or aren't even remotely catchable by the person receiving the pass.

Not excusing him, but he drafted for positional need, b/c they needed a dman and wingers, and you can't draft like that. You should take the best player available.

He tried to trade up to get Hanifin. Only Zack S. was a reach in the first round. I couldn't imagine that they would draft Barzal and have him go back to juniors for two more years, and then play behind Bergy and Krejci for several more years. Plus he wasn't a Clode-type player, and he's not a third-line center, nor is he really a winger, although he's played a lot of wing since they acquired Horvat.
