Post-Game Talk: GAME 52 - THE BEAR goes over Niagara Falls - Sabres 7 BRUINS 2

Consistency at this pace is not indicative of a #1 center. Needs to be in the 1 pt per game pace. Do not see this happening.
Oh I didn't mean to imply that it was... just that he's really never had an "excellent" stretch here. He's ranged from "good" to "invisible".

Coyle is cooked and is now a decent to good 4th line player on a PO team.
That's a huge problem at 5.25M. Massive regression and he isn't coming back.

Coyle is definitely struggling this year. But he's only 32 and with no significant injury history. Can he really be 'cooked' already? I want the Bruins to move him on, not that it will be easy with that contract, but it will be more viable if he can still perform at least close to his best level. Wonder if Sweeney might be able to shop him as someone who is simply stale and in need of a fresh environment. It might even be true!

That's how it goes. The D has overall held up pretty well of late, all things considered. Losing Carlo as well just seemed to tip it over the edge. It doesn't help either that the Bruins' forwards are nowhere near as good defensively as the days when we had the likes of Bergy, Krejci and Foligno. Even DeBrusk learnt to be quite solid in the Bruins' end over time. Coyle seems to have regressed in that regard, Elias Lindholm is generally good in this if nothing else but struggling with form and fitness. So it all takes a toll.
Coyle has not only regressed defensively, but has also regressed offensively ..especially on the road

..apparently he played 16:05 last night, but was very invisible

He only seems to show up in Boston once in awhile ..but is terrible on the road

If you could honestly move Swayman, Coyle, and Carlo for Demko and Pettersson, would you?

Honest question as your out in Vancouver. Is Demko damaged goods? As much as folks here rag on Swayman's numbers, since Demko returned from his strange injury his numbers are absolutely dreadful. 3-5-3 in 12 games, 3.47 GAA, .867 SP. At least in Boston we know Swayman got hung out to dry against strong team especially early in the season and is a big reason his numbers overall are what they are.

What's wrong with Demko?

Athletes on the cusp of their mid 30's (turn 33 soon) often decline significantly.
IMO his passing skills and ability accepting passes has shown a noticeable drop. Been a Coyle guy since his US Jr days. Don't get me wrong, he isn't useless, but at 5.25M is a major drag.

Let's stop with the excuse making. Swayman's numbers are the way they are because he hasn't been good enough. He's gone thru stretches where he's played like he should have but his focus is widely inconsistent all year, much like the rest of the team.

Whatever bud my question was more to do with Demko. I don't watch much Vancouver so I don't know how they've played in front of him. If you want to get all upset over Swayman's play be my guest, I'm not going to try convince you otherwise (even if I disagree).

They have had goals scored on them during line changes, including last night, that laziness played a part in. Two forwards amongst 88\18\39 lolly gagged to the
bench on the change. It resulted in Thompson having no one within two strides of him to wind up and crank in a goal.
What do you suppose is behind the B's having such a lousy road record this season? In the past I remember hearing that the coaches would look forward to bringing the team on the road because it resulted in the players bonding. It does not seem to be the case this season, at least in terms of results. Can't help wondering if the locker room has issues.

Problem is you can’t rebuild with Sweeney as GM. We learned that the hard way in 2015.

This is purgatory…
Just to be devil's advocate, everybody learns on the job so after all these years one would have to think he learned from those mistakes too. I think he could do a rebuild if the organization actually wanted it. More likely they will still try to make the playoffs in a delusional "we are close" idea and they might sell off Lysell or Merkulov or some other picks to try to keep it going and double down so to speak.

What you wouldn't want is to replace Sweeney with a rookie GM who would likely make a new set of errors while learning on the job.

Maybe they will try to follow the Washington model and retool/rebuild while keeping a core intact. Maybe.

Rebuilding guarantees many many years of below mediocrity. This fanbase can't handle half a season of .500 hockey, but it'll tolerate being a bottom feeder for 5+ years?
As I said in the other reply, maybe look to the Washington approach. That would be a "retool" maybe rather than a "rebuild".

His whole line was invisible, until another stupid penalty was committed.

A rookie mistake would have been waiting until later to deal Ullmark when his NTC list reset.
He should not of bent over backwards to sign Swayman even if he did not have many options available. I said it before offer a bridge deal at 5 or 6 mil for 2 years or move him out. Then at least if things do not work out you could move on after 2 years. Now they are stuck paying 8.25 mil until the end of 31-32 when he becomes a UFA regardless of his performance. I doubt you will see any takers for this contract.

people need to boycott and not go

Tomorrow should look like a regular season Florida Panthers crowd

I think the players are flat out playing much harder at home. They don't want to hear the boo birds who pay their salaries. Can you imagine TD Garden if they were getting shelled regularly like they have on the road.

Wouldn't be the fans with bags over heir heads would be the players on the bench trying to hide.
