This was a predictable result. The team sucks and they need to suck it up for the rest of the way. And the off-season needs to set next year's team up to improve. Grier needs to sell off everything that has value and try to get better pieces in the off-season.

It feels like Warsofsky is starting to slowly transition smith back into a center role. When the switch to winger happened smith was never given any faceoff duties. The last 4 games he has slowly started to take more and more.

Has taken 15 faceoffs in the last 4 games. And he has won 8 of them.

Has taken 15 faceoffs in the last 4 games. And he has won 8 of them.

Good, I still think that Smith will ultimately end up as a center. He's starting to look a bit better with each game, which is great.

Just a question what line would you rather the coach go against the Barkov line? Goodrow and the 4th line? Went -2 against that line. The smith and Granlund line? If Celebrini can't handle it, then smith isn't. Or the other line? That also went -2 against them.

Yeah I guess it's a talent issue in this one. We have no other line that can credibly play against that top line.

That's not what's happening, he's still firmly playing wing on that line. He's just taking the OZ draws on the right side (pulling towards the boards) and he's the next guy in when Granlund gets tossed, which happens seemingly all the time because Granlund cheats and then complains on faceoffs constantly.

That said, it's great to see him have another good game today (possibly the only bright spot) and it's great to see him winning faceoffs.

He needs to work on his defensive game and needs to start clicking on the power play but there is a lot to be positive about. And people are out to lunch if they think he hasn't improved as the year has gone on.

Imagine if he got to play on the power play with guys who were any good? Though realistically, there's no one to bump off of today's PP1 unless you want to go five forwards.
