I keep saying that firing him is the play. But surely the next choice by him will be the one…
I'd argue Skinner has actually regressed the last 3 seasons. Reflected in his stats, but also his fundamentals look poor. Bad positioning, bad puck tracking, poor movement; things that a goalie coach should be focusing on and improving in a young goaltender.

Team management really had an awful offseason. And their waiver wire grabs have been shit too.
This team doesn't have an identity. Last 3 years we were a fast, hard, forechecking team- the fastest in the league and one of the biggest. First line had Mcdavid and Hyman which are a nightmare for D to play against. Then on come Draisaitl and Kane, who are you stopping? Then Foegele Mcleod and Holloway had warts but they were pure speed and transition, which continued the onslaught. This team now has 29, and 97 who looks REALLY off this season- nobody else to rely on aside from that, and the rest of the guys- Janmark, Arvidsson, Henrique, Brown, Podz- more or less cardio merchants who kill time until the big boys can come back on again. Our depth feels like the Kassian-Chiasson years again.

The more time Skinner has spent with vampire Schwartz, the worse his game has become. He barely can track pucks or corral rebounds now. Seems like a pretty obvious negative linear relationship.

Unfortunately, Schwartz seems to be bulletproof in this org. All the talking heads won't even entertain any criticism of a goalie coach that has a decade of making Oilers goalies worse.
I remember texting Gregor about him- holy hell Gregor went on a 5 minute rant defending him. When multiple GMs and coaches have been fired and no one has even whispered your name- you’re the second most powerful person in the organization

I'm not sure what Stu's deal is on those dump in's that die in our end around the hash marks and no one around. He just camps in his net and hopes his dman wins the race. I've seen it a number of times this year. It's starting to piss me off because it is such an obvious play for a competent goalie. Take a couple strides out and clear it away.

It's bad that the lines without McDrai feel more dangerous... (and they're not generating much either)
McDavid in particular just has zero jump, strength, or timing.

Also Klingberg in the offensive zone is an absolute joy... Klingerg on transition skating backwards not so much.
Though both aspects are better than Bouchard's, who looks worse than McDavid.

On Skinner, while goals 2 and 3 I can't pin on him goal #1 can't happen. Especially when the team's desperate for a pick-me-up from its goalie. Despite bing 6'4, he struggles way too much at fighting through traffic; And maybe it's because Smith as the pervious starter, but that lack of fight to stay in the play rubs me the wrong way.
