Post-Game Talk: Game 51: We had 'em all the way - BRUINS 3 Buffalo 2 (SO)

I was more than happy to see Chara out there in OT for a full 2 mins killing off Bergy's penalty. Guy was a beast and that is why he is so important to this team, he is still their best dman by a country mile.

I've said this before, but this statement says more about the state of the Bruins blueline than it does about Chara and his being a beast. This team is in desperate need of a blueline upgrade, especially in the top pair.

I'm kind of holding my breath to see if they'll give Koko a run up here again on the wing. he's apparently been playing wing in Prov and doing well. that 3rd line could use another offensive minded body to work with spooner.

Marchand-Bergy-Connolly
Eriksson-Kercji-Pasta
Belesky-Spooner-Koko
Talbot-Ferraro-Griffith

they should at least try it for a couple games and see what the kids can do.... I know koko has been a ghost for his short call ups but give him decent minutes with good line mates and more than a game or two and see what he do. both he and Seth are doing well at the AHL level time to see if they can transition and worst case scenario other teams scouts may take notice.
I don't like that 4th line. The Bruins play soft enough as it is, I'd like to see Rinaldo or Randell on the wing, at least someone who can/will hit. This isn't the team to ice if you're looking for "tough to play against" - You have one guy in your forward group that throws effective hits, and it's Beleskey.

I agree on KOKO but it needs to be more than 2-3 games

Yep, I remember reading all those posts here that assured us , just wait till Krejci's back , he's all that's missing. Well Krejci's back (I think) and the offense doesn't look all that different from when he was out.

Also seems to be an over-reliance and unrealistic expectations being placed on Pastrnak, too. Frankly, I don't think he's ready for 1st line responsibilities.

I would look for someone else to put there, someone more seasoned.

I'd like to see Vatrano brought back and watch a 3rd line of him, Spooner and Pastrnak.

No doubt they need to add a couple of dmen, but my referring to him as a beast was the fact he spent the entire 2 min on the PP in OT when Bergy was in the box. That display was not condusive to what some people on here say about him being done, he clearly showed what he can do. Don't like him on 3 vs 3, don't like him on the PP but certainly want him on the PK and want him on this team til he decides to hang them up, you cannot replace what he brings.

That 3rd line would be awesome. But I can never see it with Claude , not enough defensive responsibility. I'd also love to see Beleskey/Spoons/Pasta with Bels taking on the Looch role from last season

PK is the perfect role for Chara. His stick takes up most of the passing lanes and his size should allow him to handle crease front presence. In addition he doesn't need to handle the puck , get it and fire it out. Unfortunately or fortunately, most of the game is not played on the PK. His play in other situations is what people here are worrying and complaining about - I can't see how anyone can question his role on the PK though.

i dont see the highlight video up yet. the box score is updated with links for each goal if you want to watch those.

normally clicking on "recap" would include a video of highlights along with the article, but there is not one there yet.

Thanks. On the old site the highlights were longer, and allowed one one to watch a selection of saves and hits as well. Not sure why they stopped providing a convenient and comprehensive package of highlights.

yea, this has been a big complaint so far after NHL switched to the whole NHL.tv thing.

So you are saying his defensive play is still very high-end?
