I spent almost 40 years in advertising, marketing and broadcasting (not to mention 4 years in minor league hockey). This broadcast is an embarrassment to ESPN and the NHL.
You played for 4 years? or you were working in the above industry for the minor leagues?

Announcers are not prepared. They should know more about the players and their tendencies. That’s a lack of homework. Camera is behind the play and the director is missing the best replays. Very amateurish. Compare it to MSG production which is very good.

MSG is a lot better than 90% of the other local networks in the NHL though.

I never expect a national broadcast to know the players like their own broadcast teams.

I found sound to be real uneven too.
The sound and camera work is noticeably bad, yea.

Shoulda just gone to the game. I was in the city today and my wife is studying for an exam. Strome level move on my part to come home and watch on tv.

Which will be said more during the broadcast?
1. The Panthers score a lot
2. The Capitals are one of the best road teams in the league

This is a good point, you'd never hear Sam not know something about a player, let alone call them by the wrong name... (:naughty:)

I didn't notice the broadcast, which to me is a good thing. Would rather have these guys, even if they're a bit bland, compared to someone like Pierre for a national broadcast

I think the NBC broadcasts were really good actually. People liked to shit on Pierre McGuire and Milbury (for good reason) but at least they knew the players really well.

I don’t expect that but I do expect a lot more. When I broadcasted games, I studied the other teams like crazy before the game,
I did notice the amateurish camera work, like zooming in and out at the worst times

I actually liked Pierre. Never knew why people didn't like him.

I never care about the announcers or the presentation.

The only difference to me is not listening to Valiquette.

McGuire, too well. Intimate levels.

Mess and Chelios being paid to just riff. They don't even have notes in front of them.
