I want Schaefer even more.
This weird tunnel vision of rooting for misery and stunting development for a 1 in 5 chance to draft him is always humorous to me.

I understand the need to get Georgie’s trade value up by getting him starts they should’ve sent Asky down to get him some reps and called up Dell or Romanov to sit. Theres very clearly a player development problem with this franchise still and they need to get it sorted out asap before they ruin another prospect
I still can’t believe some of you truly think the point of starting and playing Georgie was to get his trade value up.

I literally said it was a silver lining and I wanted them to win? I would call that whatever the opposite of tunnel vision is - satellite vision.

If Goodrow is bought out this summer, it'll be major savings next year (750K cap hit), almost his full cap hit in 2026-2027, and then 833K tacked on for 2027-2028 and 2028-2029. Not bad at all, but I doubt it happens, unfortunately...
Grier picking up Goodrow and buying him out next summer would definitely be something.
It was one start. Calm the hell down.
It's hfboards in a nutshell - no long-term vision.

Great to see them fight back. Could have been an OT game. One softy by Asky, otherwise not really his fault, and Annunen basically "saved" the game for NSH.

Shit happens. Would like to see the guys get a win for morale.

For those struggling, despite what your emotions are telling you -
1. Askarov is not a bust
2. Celebrini is not going to negotiate his way out of SJ by the end of his ELC
3. Smith is not a bust
4. There is no losing culture problem - they had fight all game
5. Warsofsky isn't the issue and your special line combinations wouldn't have made this a 7-3 sharks win

1. True
2. Too early to tell, but probably not at the end of the ELC. If Sharks remain bottom feeders I wouldn’t expect him to stay around. I’m sure Sabres fans didn’t think Eichel would go anywhere.
3. True
4. There is a losing culture problem. They have blown how many multi-goal leads, especially in the third? Would it make you feel better if it were labelled “inability to win culture”.
5. Warsofsky is AN issue. He is the one keeping Goodrow in the lineup. He is one that persisted with the Ferraro-Rutta pairing fo (and continues to persist with Rutta because he has a ‘long stick’). He is the one that consistently reverts back to “what of Kunin or Goodrow played top six?”. He is the coach that has seen the PK run at 70% since December 1st. It’s the same argument as was used to defend Quinn last season. It’s lazy to say “oh well roster is bad anyway”.

I would say it was a fight even though the result wasn't there. Happy to see them scoring. I honestly want this team to go somewhere together, pick up one fun activity and do something fun outside of hockey for a day. Enjoy themselves together, have fun, loosen up and hang around as humans not hockey players.
They really need to reset the mentality for the sake of their minds, because we all know they can be better and I think the culture needs to address that.

Let's Go Sharks!

Not a fan at all of Warso's post game comments specifically when he was asked about Goodrow's penalty in the third period, he pretty much responded by saying "we took 2-3 penalties in the third and it's another learning moment for us on how you need to play with good details"

Weird response for me considering 2 of those penalties were taken by our so called "experienced veterans" in Goodrow and Rutta (Goodrow one led to the GWG). I guess he wants the team to learn from the silly mistakes our veterans make and that's the true reason Grier brought in Goodrow in :sarcasm:

Edit: Ah listened more and glad Sheng called Warso out pointing out it was the veteran's that took 2 of them he just responded saying "Don't take the penalties and understand the situation". This is mostly just me still being perplexed at the whole Goodrow Waiver claim, never liked it and still hate it!

I'll point out that the Sharks are last in the league when leading after two periods. That's .500 hockey...with a third-period lead! That's terrible, and isn't a result of the low talent level alone.

Some of the comments on here blow my mind. I checked Askarov's stats coming into this game, right before it, and I believe he had a .912 save percentage...in front of THIS defense.

And now, after one shitty game, after being out sick and losing weight and playing against his former team for the first time and probably being way too amped up or something, he's now suddenly at risk of being a bust?

I'm a fiction writer, I try really hard to create all sorts of characters with varied perspectives and motivations and impulses, and no matter how hard I try, I'm constantly reminded simply by reading game threads on here just how bad I am at tapping into people and their ways and thinking. I shouldn't be surprised but I can't help it, I still always am!

The Eichel thing was about surgery and not about constant losing. The Sabres f***ed that up

Hard to lock in when you’re riding the pine for 8 of the last 11 games. Wouldn’t be the first time the sharks have botched developing a player
Almost like he's been sick and isn't probably in his best form. But that is too logical for half the dummies here.

Silver lining is that they put some buffer between themselves and Nashville in the tank standings and the games were certainly entertaining to me even with plenty to be frustrated about.
Nashville won't even be in the bottom 10. Not really anything to worry about. They're more likely a playoff team than a bottom 5 team.

HE WAS SICK YOU BIG DRUNK PANDA

I really hope walman is still recovering and this is not what he really is.
I think this is kind of what Walman is and the hot streak he had early this year was just that.

He's a decent depth defenseman, but he has no business driving a top four pairing.

It took a complex, career threatening injury to be mishandled for Eichel to want out of Buffalo. A better comp would be Tavares.

It's not a cultural problem unless it lasts beyond the current group of players. They have a problem closing out leads that they probably aren't really deserving of having, which is a skill that if they DID have would be incredible.

Once again, Warsofsky doesn't have a deep cupboard. Kunin and Goodrow haven't been in the top 6 for what, 5 games, and when they are it's due to injury. The only other option the org has isn't even Warso's decision and that's to bring up Gush, Bords, Cardwell, or some other youth. And if they did, it would look like Graf but worse - remember Graf was an offensive machine in college and nearly PPG in the AHL and yet, what has he produced even with top 6 minutes in the NHL?

Goodrow has been playing terribly. Kunin has been pretty decent this year for his role. We don't have anyone else behind them that are any better, and if you're worried about losing culture, it probably makes more sense to keep guys like Cardwell and Mukh and Askarov out of the lineup.

The point of starting Georgiev is that they don't want to play Askarov every night (and he got sick).

If our young players aren't good enough to develop because they are playing on a bad team, then we will remain bad because they were never going to amount to much anyway.

Two things can be true
It can be but in the case of Askarov, it's not. Vanecek got hurt. Askarov got sick. There's no need to put Askarov in every game the rest of the way. He should get 15 games the rest of the way and that's it. The issue is that they can't rely on Vanecek to stay healthy. If he's over being sick, I'd play Askarov the next six games leading into the break then send him down. Vanecek should be healthy coming out of the break and hope him and Georgiev stay healthy enough to finish the season and let Askarov start for the Barracuda that are trying to make the playoffs.
