I don’t disagree with anything you said. But I kinda feel for JS at this point. Even when he plays ok to good, he gets nothing. I don’t even really blame KK for not wanting to play with him. Just a miss by Jeff Jackson.
In the same game he scored he was bumped off the puck several times. I think sometimes we can overlook that coaches look more carefully over the game films than we do and have a better take of whos; helpful and who is going. For instance Philps has impressed in a lot of different ways and is much stronger on pucks and on forecheck. So that with a guy like Philps, just an example you have a guy faster, stronger, younger and that has more game at this point. Skinners problem is not just here. Its that for years he learned to "settle" on a certain level of play. This was a known. Was always a risk bet that he was going to be able to play appreciably on an actual contender team. Conversely, and I say this once in awhile, in contrast a player like Toffoli is somebody that plays his best in any circumstance. you know those players are going to always land OK. Skinner has never been a coaches favorite and lots of reasons for that.

Regarding Skinner getting scratched.. I get why Knob doesn’t like him but he’s one of the few players that can produce not stapled to Connor or Leon. Come playoff time especially if they load up McDrai I have serious concerns about this forward core generating at evens outside of 29/97. Lot of good two way guys that lack finish.

He also falls over quite a bit. He seems to play with a high centre of gravity and is one of those guys that needs to pull his arms up in the air to pick up his pace.

His play around the net is nice, and he can create chances when he gets the puck. The problem is the other 90% of the ice. He doesn't move the puck well, doesn't have playmaking vision, is slow, isn't very strong at all defensively, and can get bumped around fairly easily.

For a team that needs to further limit and mitigate the risk in their game, I completely understand why Knoblauch isn't a fan. He is a detriment almost everywhere on the ice outside of the slot/around the crease.

But he hasn't produced. I think the Skinner comments are due mostly in this thread just because he happened to have scored a goal last game. Which happened to be a routine rebound goal after he was left open in the slot from gimme range against the worst defending team in the league. I think people look at micro events like that as if Skinner had played well. The coaching staff didn't agree and actually gave him far less toi than the couple previous games. Myself I think Skinner kind of showed up against his ex team, as countless players do, but its also indication of how mixed his commitment is. Even if one thinks Skinner played some sort of good game with only 10mins on ice it was against his old team mates. Almost anybody with a pulse can manage to get up for that couple games a year.

It is odd though to see on the board 20posts in the thread complaining about J Nothingburger Skinner not being in the lineup. Wasn't a couple weeks ago people were wanting him to stay out of the lineup.

Bang. Absolutely. I'll add that he's listed at 200lbs. This is one of the weakest players on the puck I've seen for a forward at 200lbs. He's sure not strong on pucks or on his skates.

Weird lineup and I'd sit Janmark (who I generally like but has been pretty bad for a while) for Skinner to get Skinner going or at least showcase him for a trade but Knoblauch really doesn't like him if he's scratching him after a set of pretty good games including a big goal last game.

I always dislike the McDrai thing but I think this is a matter of Knoblauch tinkering with other, new, lines to see what works which I don't mind as long as it's temporary.

I agree with a lot of your post. Its clear that JS doesn’t fit on this team. The coach obviously isn’t a fan of his game which is understandable. Hes a flawed player.

But I don’t think it’s really fair to call him out on his production. He’s out producing Arviddson, Podkolzin, Henrique, etc and he’s not getting much of an opportunity or really put in good spots.

He had a good game. Everything backs that up. He also scored an important goal… your typical it was an easy goal thing is irrelevant.

I won't argue on Arvid. I don't think he's giving us much. But Podz and Henrique are and they offer a lot of other facets of play Skinner doesn't. Henrique is essential in our bottomsix and is a Center. So that he has a pretty indispensable role here. Certainly nobody is taking him out, and really Henrique has been the hotter of the players and is even producing lately. For Skinner with just one role here, production, he hasn't scratched enough of that to even differentiate from anybody.

I'm not getting the Skinner love fest either. He was directly responsible for what was almost a goal against in the first minute. He just sucks at any kind of decision making defensively.

Ultimately, he's better offensively than a few guys in the lineup, but defensively easily the worst. With a team that's fairly strong offensively, if he wants playing time, he needs to get onto the PK (not happening) or be air tight defensively.

Looking at guys he could replace.

Perry - No special teams either but gamesmanship has helped often this year.
Philp - What's the point of having a rookie up here if you aren't going to test him out. Also, centre vs. winger.
Kapanen - Really the only guy I see that he could swap out as he makes some curious choices defensively at times, but he has contributed on the PK.
Janmark - Seriously, I understand the concerns about lack of scoring with him, but a very key part of the PK and almost never makes a mistake leading to a scoring chance against.
Brown - Similar to Janmark, but he actually scores on occasion as well.
Talk of him over any of the current top 7 is just non-sense so I won't bother listing those.

So we're talking about one guy who he realistically could take out of the lineup, and frankly between the two Kapanen has been just a tiny bit more consistent and is at least an option on the PK.
