Scored some box tickets tonight. First game I've been to in a few years since I stopped buying power packs. Pretty stoked since Connor is back. Less stoked that I don't get to see Jeff Skinner, for better or worse, in Oilers silks, and wanted to see Klingberg but oh well.

Jeff Skinner getting scratched after a good game and scoring a goal is some headscratching stuff from Coach Garlic.

I would've went with this:

Skinner - McDavid - Hyman
Pod - Drai - Arvidsson
Brown - Nuge - Janmark
Kapanen - Henrique - Perry

But it is always fun to watch McDavid and Draisaitl on the same line. I just feel like running those four down the middle makes more sense than trying to fit Philp into the lineup right now. Pretty easy to just bench Skinner and move Drai up if it's not working or they're down a goal.

I don’t really get the line up choices honestly.

Sitting Jeff is just kinda shitty by coach/Management.

I would of sat Brown or Janmark personally.

Still don’t really like how much the team plays Leon and Connor together. Is it a good strategy against a team like Vegas?

The bottomsix really needs Janmark speed and his invaluable work on pk. Harder player to take out. Kapanen made some star moves in recent games. Not gonna take him out. Skinner has no niche roles on the club. Hes' established none.

My take is Skinner is on borrowed time here. Probably gets packaged going out on a TDL move. Really when the team scratched him on the mothers trip it was a major statement I thought. Unfortunately its one that Skinner had deserved.

Makes no sense to scratch him after he scored a key goal last game
I’ve generally been a big Knoblauch fan but some of the lineup decisions this season have been odd. Skinner admittedly did have some rough turnovers in addition to his goal but how do you not give him another game to try to get him going?

Likewise, I’m so sick of coaches going back to McDavid-Draisaitl on a line. We know it’s not a long-term strategy that works and Leon just put up 5 points in 3 games with no McDavid (which beats his season average).

We need to get Skinner going as we don’t have cap flexibility to do a ton of other moves. For better or worse, an improved Skinner could be one of our best “deadline” moves.

I don’t disagree with anything you said. But I kinda feel for JS at this point. Even when he plays ok to good, he gets nothing. I don’t even really blame KK for not wanting to play with him. Just a miss by Jeff Jackson.
