I don't think anyone is getting up to play the flames. Don't let it become a habit. This team isn't good enough to start late and/or take opponents lightly.

Yes, lack of physical play still a problem. Look at the lineup. Not shocking. Don't have the horses to play that style (that ultimately wins in the playoffs IMO).

I don't know how to evaluate Grzelcyk.... I've gone from viewing him as on of the safest/quietest/most underrated #3 defenseman in the league..... to a player I don't want in the lineup. Shocking development in a contract year to an otherwise consistent player.

Bit of a stinkeroo first game back, but I'm sure they'll be ready for the Nucks on Thursday. Hopefully Sweeney can acquire some sandpaper at the deadline

I can live with a stinker coming back from a 10 day break, can't live with the lack of response to the captain getting smoked in the face and bleeding on the ground. If that same thing happened with the leafs and it's Matthews and Marner standing around while Tavares is bleeding on the ground all of us here would be laughing at them about how they'd never win shit cause "they just don't get it".

Coyle is 6'3" 220lbs, Lindholm is 6'4" 220lbs. Both were in the vicinity. I get it's not their typical games, but drop the f***ing gloves, wrap someone up, and wrestle them down to the ice at the very least. It's pathetic.

Also I've had about enough of this 4th line. You will not win shit in the playoffs with a 4th line whose identity is speed and skill. You just won't.
No idea what Steen was supposed to provide tonight. Next, please.

Flames fan here. Geekie was good, Lauko was good. That's a pretty short list and not the players you need to be good. I was interested to watch Grzelcyk. The guys in the main forum saying he's almost as good as Hanifin sure are out to lunch. He's not even in the same league.
I just looked it was one poster - Bruins4lifer and I clearly don’t agree with what he wrote either

I remember the game in Calgary last year in which the B's were gassed on a back-to-back, the Flames outplayed and outshot them by a wide margin, but the B's eeked out a win on superhuman goaltending. So maybe this was bound to happen.

Special teams didn't do them any favors, either.

In their defense, they aren't the only team to sleepwalk out of the break. But they better wake up soon - Vancouver will be coming in on a mission.

Sweeney has built a soft team, they need some guys that will be the hammer, not the nail. Gryz was bad yes, but so was Shattenkirk, they are both useless against teams with a strong forcheck. We actually still had a chance this game, but that too many men penalty was a back-breaker, they had just scored and still time left on the PP and that penalty killed any momentum they had and that is on the coaches.

The Bruins always seems to have trouble after long breaks. I think they will be much better tomorrow night. Calgary played well, give them credit. They have something to prove and the Bruins were in for their first practice of the second half. They will be fine.

How do Neely and Sweeney sleep at night knowing once again they have assembled a bunch of pillow fighters? Loses happen, regular season is an 82 game exhibition season to eliminate half the league, I get it, but does this team have the moxie and fortitude to get through a tough seven game series?

I took my daughters to a game last year for the first time ever vs Nashville and the Bruins played like shit. Maybe their worst performance of their season. Last night reminded me a lot of that game.

If Sweeney doesn't address the glaring holes on this team, she's going to be another early playoff exit. They need some nasty in this line up, someone on the back end (Middleton type, not necessarily him) and someone who's a real asshole to play against (Maroon type, not necessarily him). Boqvist, Steen, Lauko, Heinen in our bottom 6 makes us possibly the softest team to play against in the NHL.

I was reading online tonight that Lucic’s next court date is Feb 16. Don’t know if we will have resolution then, if he has completed treatment, where his wife is on the whole situation, etc. The team is apparently waiting for something. One way or the other, the Bruins will likely have to fish or cut bait with him soon. If they decide to take him back, it will likely only be with his wife’s blessing and even then will be very precarious from a public opinion point of view. Her opinion will be key. If we are done with him, we need someone with that skill set - soon.

I like your level-headed post. What you say is true and it makes sense. I should stop my post there. Apparently, my thumbs are not listening to my head. As it was for all of us, that game was very frustrating. I am personally done with the Smurf known as Gryz. He’s not the only problem, but that one is glaring. We need to move on from him. Unfortunately, a game like last night did nothing to enhance any value he may have in a trade.
