Russia’s always a wildcard. This year, they were rumoured to be good.

I’m not buying it, watching this game. Largely unable to penetrate or hem in an exhausted Denmark team.

It's hard to judge the Russians based on their early preliminary games. There have been so many years when they looked so bad/underwhelming in the preliminary round, but then still managed to medal in the end. In 2015 they were taken to over time by Danes in their first game before winning silver. In 2016 they were again taken to overtime by the Danes, this time in the quarterfinals, before losing in over time in the gold medal game.

It's too early to tell for sure, but it feels like we have this conversation about the Russians in the group stage every year, and they usually come away with a medal in the end.
