Best game of the season and honestly that’s pathetic because we weren’t very good tonight against a team missing several of their best players. Team is way too soft. Forwards have no space because most forwards can’t win a board battle.

Klingberg needs to gtfo. Seems completely uninterested most of the time.

Instead of searching for a win in this game, I'll look for goals I want the team to achieve because we're in a development year.
1. Can we keep the Bruins to 4 goals or less?
2. Can the Ducks' PP PK be 70% or better?
3. Can the top-6 score two goals at ES?
4. Can Klingberg score two points (probably assists)?

Goal 1. Bruins had 1 goal and 1 shootout goal. check :partytime:

Goal 2. 5 for 5 on the PK. check :partytime:

Goal 3. Vatrano scores on ES. check :partytime:

Goal 4. Klingberg had ZERO points. boo! :thumbd:

.
Can't win them all, but it lead to a point. We're trending in the right direction! Could have stolen two points if we actually put maybe McTavish or Vatrano in for Shatty. I was expecting McTavish, tbh. Z and Terry not scoring on the shootout is actually pretty scary. Are they that beat down?

Zegras and Terry didn’t look to be trying the crafty, clever moves they usually are. They looked a step behind. Maybe it’s just the toll of an early season road trip.

Man, what an interesting game. More or less confirms what I’ve already seen from last year. Maybe I’m not as judgmental and obsessed like others are on here.

Terry and Zegras were out of it tonight, while Strome and Vatrano really have impressed me so far.

I’m really surprised with the backlash of Klingberg. I thought he played well and held his own. He’s an offensive defenseman. What do you think Zellweger is going to be if he ever makes it?

Just watched the Game. Easily their best game of the season. Something is up with Zegras. Not looking good.

McTavish continues to impress. Also, I told you guys you would love Vatrano. Lol.

the issue is he's not providing any real offense. he fumbles the puck a lot in the offensive zone. not taking enough shots. he's been pointless in all our games besides the first game.

You can’t judge a player so early into the season. I’d say give it two-three months and go from there. Again, he is just different (in a good way) than the other defenseman that we have

I don't know what's up with Zegras, but I think he needs to focus on fundamental hockey. His passes are frequently off the mark, he gets knocked off the puck or falls down a lot, and the flashy play attempts rarely pan out. Get back to fundamentals and do them well.

Im not making any final judgments on him just pointing out that he’s not providing the one thing we thought he would be

I was about to say the same, haha.

I'm happy McT is finding ways to be on the scoresheet, he has been better than I expected so far and still room to grow no doubt.
But his skating sometimes looks really slow. I hope he is able to improve it at some point, but probably impossible during the NHL season.

He chugs for sure. He needs to move his feet more because he accelerates like a battleship. He'd be involved in a lot more plays if he was already moving.

Anyway the games aren't good but the trend is. We definitely limited chances against in that game and the only goal they scored was a boneheaded giveaway by Gibson, who was otherwise really good. We need way, way more from our top 6 ON TOP OF the moderate defensive improvement we saw. Long ways to go.

I really liked Strome’s game also. Made some nice defensive plays and one of his poke checks led to the Vatrano goal. He has 4 points in 5 games on a struggling Ducks team. I’m one of the few Rangers fans who want to see him tear it up on another team. But obviously I’m biased with that regard lol.

I still think Terry and Zegras should be on separate lines, it will deter the Opponents D , a little.

Henrique has to find a way to get on the scoresheet. i guess he's playing up to be the defensive conscience on that line? he's the worst forechecker i've seen in a long time.

With you there. I think Eakins is trying to get Z going, but I'm not a fan of it at the moment because it doesn't seem to be working and the opposition can focus on shutting down that line.

It's always interesting reading through the game day threads the day after the game. The amount of constant negativity, particularly in the first half of the game in this thread was quite jarring and not at all reflective of my viewing experience.

Anyway, Vatrano is certainly a gem. It's hard to imagine why no one else picked him up in free agency. $3.65 million AAV over 3 years seems like a bit of a bargain already. Loving just about everything he brings to this team so far.

It's nice to see Gibson have a strong game even if he didn't get the goal support or the win. Aside from that gaffe, he really held the team together.

I think we can expect to see incremental improvements as the season rolls along and I'm excited to see how everything unfolds.

You want negativity? Read the Rangers GDT/PGT, and they are playoff contenders, lol. We have one dude who makes bsu look like Gandhi. I kid, @bsu

I honestly don't see things as bad as people are making them out to be. Don't get me wrong it's been rough , but I've seen other teams with an even worse start. Only fully bad game I thought was the islanders. The Devils and Rangers games had some good moments, and some bad. Plus, the Ducks outscored the Rangers at ES, and got 4 past Igor. I just hope to see improvements like last night, Ducks could have won that game they were not outmatched or outclassed like their previous games.

Heinen would have fit this team so well. Too bad we were so cheap and let him walk for $1m.
