Game #5: Kings vs. Blues 10/16/14 - All hail Quick! Kings shutout Blues 1-0

How big a loss is Muzzin? Obviously it's not all him, but I don't recall the Kings being outshot like that by the Blues before.

I think Muzzin's presence just provides a little continuity in the d pairings. I don't think Muzzin not playing is the reason the Kings were out shot. I think they are a bit rusty to start the season. The team has looked different in almost every game they've played so far.

They've been bad coming out of their own zone. I feel like teams have forechecked well and kept the Kings hemmed in their own zone more than they usually would. The Phoenix game was abysmal. They were lucky to get to OT in that one.

Probably fairly big as McNabb is less experienced but that was all Blues regardless.

I've said around here I expect the Kings to suck for 10 games while they get their feet under them and 4 games in 6 nights, the last two of which were vs. the Jets and Oilers, weren't good preparation to battle another contender. Great showing by the Blues though is all there is to it.

He's a very good defenseman that has incredible chemistry with Drew. It's not all him. The Kings don't have their heads screwed on tightly yet.

Interesting. He's really turned into quite a defender. Didn't realize the Kings were in a 4 in 6 night stretch. That's rough.

Speaking of quite the defender, holy crap was Doughty in the zone last night. Might have been the best ive seen him play. Distinctly remember one diving play where he broke up what looked like would be a sure goal.

Yeah, he's really incredible on the plays where he breaks up direct passes with his stick. He does them a lot to. It's really become a staple of his defensive game.

Doughty typically steps it up when there's another great defenseman on the other team. Or when there's a superstar forward he's tasked with shutting down. He likes these little matchup challenges.

Abysmal??? far from it. He's been pretty good, the off season work shows. It would help if Sutter kept him on one line for awhile with the same linemates , 3 lines in 5 games.
He's looked the best in the last 2 , set up Kopi a couple times last night. He's better with top 6'ers.

ive definitely noticed he seems to be in better shape, im concerned about what he does with and without the puck. idk, i was just hoping he'd come into this season with something to prove considering his meeting with Deano over the summer.

He made some typical Richards sneaky/smart plays yesterday with his passes but if you're expecting him to crash and bash like he did in Philly, I can't see it happening and frankly, I don't think someone his size, with his concussion issues should be playing that way. The Kings have other guys who can do the heavy hitting.

I'm not worried about the start of the season at all. They don't have the Stanley Cup hangover since it's their second post-Cup season and they've got a lot of points early on after their first 2 losses. Elliott stood on his head last night even though he didn't face as many shots as Quick. In a 7 game series that's not going to happen. Quick was spectacular. 1 goal in his last 2 games including 1 overtime period and blanking them in the shootout is amazing.

Wanted to stop by and say great game the other night. Always a treat watching Quick play even if it means beating us.

Oh, boy. After only 43 posts, that guy is looking at a perma-ban.

DON'T DELETE ME!

You guys are a class act.

Always said wanted to see the Blues win a Cup, and the Blues and Kings are kindred spirits, back to 1967. You guys are so close. I was impressed at the beating we took last night. Game was a steal.

Good luck in the future, as long as you don't go through the Kings to get there! ;)

when we upgraded our SS to the 200's this year we got it in 205 at the end we defend twice and last night showed what a good choice that was, Quickie was outstanding and DD is just a pleasure to watch. My son had a game at icetown so I took my daughter to her first game in years and even at 15 she mentioned how good that number 8 was ( and how cute, she is 15 lol) he stands out not only when he has the puck but he is almost always in position and has that uncanny skill of breaking up the pass even before the guy with the puck knows where he is goin with it ......GO KINGS GO going to be a good year ......

Blues, just like every single team that isn't us, definitely do suck. At least they aren't as lol as the Sharks or Oilers though

Regehr has been manhandling people this year and I love love love it. Can't say enough about his play. He's been our second best dman imo.

Yeah he just seems so mean out there, must be intimidating going into his corner knowing you're getting a beating. Greene has been playing hard too, although he's a bit more prone to making mistakes. But yeah, Regehr seems to be having a solid year so far.
