Game #5: Kings vs. Blues 10/16/14 - All hail Quick! Kings shutout Blues 1-0

I'm sure the blues fans are annoyed by it but let's not forget quick was what, 20 seconds from a shutout vs. the Oilers too!

It's the obvious one...but I'm the one that coined that updated MF moniker on him...

Well if it was the obvious one, I was way off...

I thought it was Jack mother ****ing Johnson...

Anyways, good game tonight, Kings. Really hoping someone knocks you out in the first 2 rounds if the Blues happen to make it to the third round. If not, I hope your team wins again!

That WAS the obvious one...and I don't know who started that one...

Hmmm.

DD with 30+ mins TOI and Voynov with 26+

Mcnabb with < 10 mins TOI.

Coaches playing vets in a tight game? Or just losing faith period?

Lot of special teams and a tight game. I know they went down to basically two D pairings towards the end of the 3rd.

lolBlues. Wish they would at least try in 1 of these games against us so that there is a legitimate threat of us losing

NegativeNancyPants mode. Kings really struggling with puck possession to start the year. Going to put a lot of that down to having a rookie holding back Doughty though. Please return to us Jesus (but not as Jesus'y as the real Jesus in Anaheim) Muzzin

Kings are 5-0 vs the Blues when I am in attendance, so there's that.

The whole team had some struggles keeping up with the Blues. McNabb was the 7th defenseman going into the season. He hasn't been through the wars. It wasn't just a tight game, the Kings were in their own zone a lot. You want guys out there that you can trust not to make a mistake, and McNabb just isn't there yet.

ya. I've said it in every thread so far but I still believe in 10 games of suckage. we're lucky to have 2012 quick to keep us afloat until then. Other factors--we just played 4 games in 6 nights. The previous two vs. Jets and Oil weren't exactly good tuneups for good hockey habits vs. the Blues. The Blues just played their third game of the season and had 5 days between games. They practiced 3 days a row in Palm Desert. They were rested, prepared, and as always, out to get us. Not to mention missing Gaborik, Muzzin, and Lewis. This game looked exactly like the above factors were out in full force.

I'm actually impressed the D has been relatively stable considering McNabb has been essentially thrown to the wolves.

Guess who's back, back again, Quick is back, tell your friends...

Not that he really went anywhere, but for some reason I've been singing that to myself all morning.

I'm dieing of laughter... 2 points and 0 goals in regulation/overtime... Suck it St.Louis!!!!!

Should we be concerned that the Kings have been shutout in 2 games and most of their production is from one line at this point? Kings are 1 and 1 when getting shutout so how much does it really matter?

Yeah... Still laughing!!!!

Well now that Quick has effectively beaten/matched every Kings record now, I ask you:

Is Jonathan Quick in the top 50 for greatest NHL goalies of ALL TIME? Top 30?

There are some on the HF that seem to think he barely makes into the top 50 goalies currently in the game. :shakehead ;)

No different than Andreoff playing 5 mins and Nolan just over 6, as it reflects their role and experience. I'd be interested in the amount of 5/5 ice time as that would be better indicator of things in my view. Regardless I'm not worried about his ice time, the guy has played 5 games with the Kings. I'm not interested in the time he spent in Buffalo as I'm far from convinced that they know how to develop players properly.

Besides if they were to lose faith in a guy they are that high on after 5 games that would be more of an organisational issue than a player issue, as D men take time. Patience is needed, as it will be when Forbert gets his shot.

Blues fans are all over Eliott again, in a positive way. If he can keep it up, he will bring them to the promised land, like three seasons ago. He's a solid goalie but they havent learnt anything.

That was fun to watch. Quick is in playoff mode which is great to see. Now hurry back, Muzzin!
