If rationale to keep Primeau is to not lose a free asset, if you play him tomorrow against a high octane offense team on the 2nd half of a back to back. Odds are he's gonna get torn to shreds and have a bad game. No one will claim a goalie who would be coming off yet another terrible game.

Is HuGo this cold in their approach? Tune in tomorrow

We don't try and create turnovers, that's not part of our game.

We wait for the other team to mess up without applying any pressure.

It probably worked for Marty when he was coaching PeeWee, but the NHL guys are too good for that ridiculous strategy
Habs are supposed to apply pressure. You can see it in the practice clips where Marty has them glued man-to-man to disrupt passes/steal pucks.

The players are not executing in-game.

I’ve implied last season that he was perhaps our best center and to not sleep on him. He’s such a versatile player, he does everything well.

He’s a PPG player, give him someone like Caufield and he will blow up.
I agree change the lines for the 3rd!!!!

Caufield-Monahan-Slafkovski
Newhook-Suzuki-RHP
Pearson-Evans-Ylonen

f*** the 4th line...

 come on…
I'm not gonna lie the Dach injury has brought out the worst in me

The whole season became a lot less fun 2 games in.

Nothing to play for, not even our young players will be able to improve.

An entirely wasted season, and it has just barely started.

Tbh if he can stay healthy this year, I wouldn't mind him on a three year contact for decent cap

If healthy we won't be able to afford him... And he is way too talented to be wasted here as the token "vet presence", he'll go somewhere he can win for his last deal.

Good Lord man give it a rest. Your sky is falling crap is so boring.

Rebuilding club. Something you’ve screamed for. Now it’s here and you want to keep screaming.

Dach’s injury ensured a miserable season. There’s nothing MSL or any other coach can do about that.

This is what rebuilding looks like. Sit back, watch younger players develop. Hope for a Caufiled goal… that’s what this year is going to be about. You wanted rebuilding? You got it. Now give it a Goddamned rest.
MSL can still teach them to make an extra effort and play defensively. It's like without Dach we lost Lebron James for 6 months during his prime .

Tell me this is good coaching that we are taking even more penalties than the last 2 seasons .

Coach is paid to find solutions , rebuilding or not they have to do their job. You can still learn in losing situations for the future. Nothing is negative about learning things. You can learn almost everything in hockey except offensive IQ. We could be dead last in the league but still hard to play against.

Then he needs to chew them out, which I don't think he is capable of.

We probably look great when we practice against ourselves

I know.

It sucked. He was primed for a good year and I think he was going to really help Slaf. When he went down I knew it would be this way. We’d fall off the cliff again.

Honestly though… it’s fine. We weren’t going to win anything this year anyway. Get another pick and start over next year. More players will be ready and it’ll be another new season.

Unfortunately I felt like this year was over before it started.

Things to look for this year:

Increased gf
Decreased ga
Development of future core
Less injuries (very achievable considering last year)
Better special teams

I'd most of these are achieved but it's boring I honestly don't care. This is a write off year. It was in preseason, it was at the end of last season and it is right now. Can it be more entertaining and better conduced, sure. But that's not of great importance

MSL currently in the locker room waxing poetic about how they get to create their own destiny, without actually providing coaching advice

* plays Matheson Gallagher Pearson Anderson on the Pp* over Ylonen Slaf Guhle and Barron but hey get all the icetime.

Also the same as Slaf having less ice time than Jake Evans last time i checked
Dude, I hear you.

And.

Look at our lineup... U25 players are not exactly hurting for opportunities

Suzuki, CC, Newhook, Slaf, Ylonen, Pezetta up front
X, Harris, Barron & 26 year old Kovacevic on D

Guhle & Dach both injured but in top 6/top 4 roles

Tonight, Gally & Pearson are only ahead of Pez in ice time.

It's just not a realistic argument to make that age is a heavy bias in ice time with this coach. That doesn't make it a non-factor, but to suggest it's biased in favor of vets is silly and unsupported by the facts

(I think Ylonen should get even more opportunities & Slaf should be on the pp... So I share the critique of how the ice time is playing out, just totally disagree about the fantasy "why" some are trying to explain it with

Again
It's not about 'not trying to lose an asset' in primeau,
Its more 'we are trying to trade Allen'

You're probably right. He should try to win a cup but I just saw Helly and Sorokin decide that they were essentially okay with never winning a cup so anything is possible

Blah blah blah… sky is falling.

He can re-arrange the chairs on the Titanic. The team is going nowhere.

All you do is find something to scream about. It’s tiresome.

Any news on Emil Heineman? When is he coming back? I would love to see him in the big club. It would at least make things interesting.

Not if Hughes has a plan to start dumping guys like savard, Pearson etc
