Why is it that big defensemen don't sprint back for puck retrievals?

Lohrei coasts, Zadorov coasts... are they trying to time it so they get to the puck at the same time?

I mean, we've seen Zadorov hit 23mph when rushing the puck. He has that kind of speed.

Once he gets moving . He doesn’t have good acceleration, quickness and lateral movement. He needs to recognize his limits more in his own zone .

Also speed = havoc along the boards

The B's are Zadorov's 6th different team since 2013. I wonder how well he was vetted by DS?
