Goodrow is that dog poo that sat out in your yard too long and turned into a hard rock.
Dellandrea is that poo where you wait and you wait and it just refuses to come out
Kunin is that poo where you're desperate to get home in time before you poo your pants and you rush out of your car, you make it to the bathroom, you drop your drawers and it turns out you didn't quite make it and "rimmed" out, so there's some messy cleanup afterward
Grundstrom is gaseous, a literal fart. You hear it, but it doesn't smell. If you hadn't heard it, you wouldn't even know it was there at all.
Sturm is that poo where someone you manage to make an interesting design and part of you wants to show someone how proud you are of your drawing ability, but you don't cause they'd laugh at you.
I don't know what the f*** this is, but yes

Is this where I chime in and say Mike Hoffman didn’t get pushed off the puck nearly as badly/often as Will Smith?
I mean, Hoffman is nearly twice Smith's age and had grown-man body strength, so I'd better f***ing hope not. But he was still pathetic and depressing to watch. But if all you can focus on with Smith is what he ISN'T, not what he could become, then I guess this counts the same for you, too.

I would rather watch 18 hours of Will Smith play while someone repeatedly punched me in the groin over having to watch another period of Mike Hoffman slowly sliding across the ice like a loose f***ing ice skate.

What the f*ck did I just read and why couldn't I disagree less

I mean given all the other shit teams we have before the break, it’s not the worst time for a slump. I do want to see Askarov shut out Nashville for the lols.

On the topic of Will Smith not doing well in puck battles, Sheng’s postgame did mention Smith has a “sub-par” 35% win rate on 5v5 puck battles…

… the casually mentions it is third worst amongst Sharks forwards. Doesn’t mention the other two Sharks are. Wonder why that is…

I fell asleep after the 2nd period lol. Intended to take an intermission Power Nap but ended up missing the 3rd. Looks like I didn’t miss much. At least we’ve created a slight gap with the Preds and Chicago is only 1 point behind us with 2 games in hand.

sounds like our sharks are dealing with stomach flu virus in the locker room. Askarov is sick and losing weight and Toffalo is out also. Damn, that's good for tanking.

I tells ya, the shits is a lower body injury. When they said he tested it out in warmups it was his ability to hold it in 😂

Are we shitting on Smith? I thought he had a pretty solid game. Created more chances than most other forwards, actually won some puck battles with some moxy - especially for him.

Even more than strength, he really needs to work on speed. He's so slow out there. Maybe we can get Pavs to mentor him so he can learn how to be effective while also having no burst.

Yeah late in the game we're pressing and he sees some good ice and motors deeper into the slot .. And he takes ... For ... Ever lol by the time he gets there the play has been over a while and is already turning back the other way.

Dude needs time with the skating coach for sure

Isn’t it unreal that out of yesterday’s game, he’s the one under the microscope again?

Higher expectations create unjust criticisms mostly because we know what he's capable of. I didn't watch the came so I don't have any clue how he looked, but obviously a player with his ceiling will be more scrutinized than someone who we know has nothing to offer offensively.

Yeah I get it but in terms of yesterday’s game and the Columbus game, the guys that do offer something offensively should be a bit more scrutinized as well. Granlund looks absolutely terrible and checked out and Zetterlund looked just as bad and yet we are looking at Smith who actually created some chances and looked more engaged than most of his teammates yesterday instead of pointing out that maybe he’s taking some of the coaching seriously and improving in small segments

I think it's pretty obvious that some people on this board are simply never going to like Smith, even if he starts putting up PPG seasons. Kind of like how 50% of Sharks fans always found something to complain about with Marleau. Not passionate enough, not physical enough, whatever.

I was thinking about this a little last night while watching the Rangers-Blue Jackets game and they were talking about how Kent Johnson worked really hard over the summer to improve his skating and speed. I would say it's quite noticeable, and the results speak for themselves (26 points in 32 games in his age-22 season after just 16 in 42 last year and time spent in the minors to start that, his 2nd full NHL season).

Certainly a different style player compared to Smith in some ways, but just looking up what people were saying about him a year ago, I found this from Corey Pronman: "He is not without his warts, though. Johnson lacks ideal quickness. He's not very physical and his overall effort can be inconsistent."

#5 overall pick compared to Smith at #4, both college kids, so I would say expectations for the two probably shouldn't be that different. Is it going to take Smith until he's 22 to make a jump like Johnson has? It wouldn't surprise me. But my goodness are some people not going to be able to handle it if that's the case.

I just think back to my evolution as an athlete, and maybe more to the point, my far more athletic friends' evolutions as athletes. By senior year of college, everyone was faster, stronger, more resilient than freshman year. The only exceptions were guys or girls who came in fully physically mature and then got chronically injured. And past that, for my friends who continued on in pro or Olympic sports, they peaked in their mid to late 20's for the most part, getting faster and stronger along the way.

I don't think it's a question that Smith can be faster and stronger in 3-4 seasons, I think the question is, what's his genetic ceiling on that, and what does that say about his hockey ceiling?

At the end of 2027 we can judge his trajectory and in June 2028 we can be pretty sure, but even then not certain. He may take 7 years post draft to find his play style and teammates.
