Top-6 has been terrible, 3rd line has been really good, 4th line is OK. 3rd pairing is holding their own against a tough team which is good to see.

All things aside if you want to be a good playoff team you need to have enough depth to account for at least one injury in the top 9 at any given time. We don't have that.

There needs to be that depth. In the 2014-2015 window Dominic Moore was always able to step into the top 9 and do alright.

1. If the top 6 were humming, scoring goals, no one would give a shit that McKegg was out there
2. If we had Blais in the lineup, Kakko, or someone just flat out better with the same amount of experience he wouldn't be on the ice.
3. If the coach didn't like him, and instead rolled out Barron to get the kid NHL reps, he wouldn't be out there.

McKegg is a literal plug. Non entity in the grand scheme. The problems are above. McKegg is the symptom.

It's stark watching him and the rest of the D who really don't have much lateral mobility. Obviously Fox makes up for it with the rest of his abilities but when you have someone like Jones on D it really makes a difference in the offensive zone.
