Yes. The Blue Jackets have been a playoff team on player for the past two years. Every team suffers through injuries, but I am not sure this team weathers it as well as others. We are still missing playmakers and that is a big assumption to assume we end up with Matthews. Still several years away

And you forgot Rychel and Anderson.

If healthy, that should be a playoff team.

I wanted to throw in Rychel because he deserves to be here based on play this year but the only way to get him in there is to trade hartnell/calvert/boll/clarkson. clarkson isnt going anywhere. boll can be bought out or traded but who knows. and honestly I dont want to get rid of calvert or hartnell but if we get back picks and prospects that dont take space away from our players I would be ok with it.

and to J2f above that post... its a big assumption because we might not finish last or we might slide a spot or 2. I just have a feeling our luck is finally changing after getting saad, then getting torts, then getting jones and ditching dead weight joey... I think this season was just to get us the #1C we deserve and finally give us a team that will be a playoff team for 6 out of the next 8 years. these past 2 seasons were lost to injuries... hopefully next year is better. but games like tonight and last game you see we are there compete wise and we look good... just a bad d pairing and rusty goal play has hurt. that D pair is gone next year and hopefully bob has his healthiest year of a career haha

Someone will be injured, no doubt. We probably average two forwards down at any moment. And Boll is probably bought out.

I was only able to watch the first two periods, which makes me feel pretty lucky.

When the Flames scored at the end of the first period, it looked to me that Bob was hurt on the play. Watch the replay of that and how he bounced off the ice afterwards. It didn't look natural and I was surprised he started the second period.

If they don't buy him out or at least bury him in Cleveland I will add a big minus to the JD/JK regime. Probably do the same for Campbell.

They're unwatchable? That "dead weight" and "lazy bum" was fan to watch last night. 9 points in the last 7 games. He wasn't a problem here, this whole atmosphere in and around the Jackets organization and whiny fan base is a bigger problem. People don't want to play in or for Columbus. Brassard, Mason, Carter, Nash... Well, I posted the list already. And some of you honestly believe that no one would sign offer sheet to get out of here? Right.

I think the problem is people are playing too high in the lineup. Foligno is not a first line winger, he's not a second line winger on a good team. He's a great third line player, same with Hartnell. Clarkson is not on the roster of a playoff team, let alone take a regular shift. Wennberg is not on a playoff team. Where's Anderson and Rychel? They have shown they belong here, you going to bury them in the minors again and play Clarkson? We are 3 years away from competing for a playoff spot. We will compete, when the prospects blossom. When Bjorkstrand, Milano, Anderson, Rychel, this years draft pick, are in the lineup, that's when this team will have a shot at MAKING the playoffs.

Joey had 6 points in the first 5 games this season, too. Give him time...he'll start floating and not producing soon enough.

Preds 2-4-2 with Johansen, Jackets 2-4-1 with Jones. Not that either guy was supposed to magically turn around the team play instantaneously. Just fun to note, more than anything.

"Whiny fan base" - LOL ok. Zero playoff series wins in 16 years. This might be the most patient fanbase in the NHL.

I agree. We really don't have a first line and a piece here and there for the second line (Jenner, Dubi) Most need to be moved down in a perfect world. We are just going to have to let the young guys develop. It is going to take time.

When David Clarkson has more goals for the month than your "1C", he certainly was a problem here. Not THE problem, but a problem.
That fact he is suddenly producing like we expected him to here completely justifies trading him IMO. Good riddance.

True. Defensive zone coverage is bad and we have some poor decision makers. Removing said players from our roster might go a long way in not giving up the most goals in the league.

Last night was just an extension of what we saw the previous night. Egregious error leading to a goal with some questionable goal tending at times.

More and more I watch this team I say it's time for Bob to go.

*Least favorite Jackets myth #1002

Foligno produces like a low-end 1st line winger. So does Hartnell, and Dubinsky, and Saad. Use this tool.

Hartnell is producing like a borderline top line player, but he's really not because of his ice time. This season Dubinsky isn't. I don't need whatever tool you produced when I can simply look at their PROD. What you produced looks like some advanced stat trickery. Nice tool, but I still think it's too heavily relied upon.

If you aren't playing 18+ minutes a night you really can't say you are a top line player. You are getting more favorable match ups.

For example, under Torts Cam has jumped up to over 19 minutes a game and his production has dropped like a rock - well below top six. Doesn't mean he's not playing well, however. Rychel is producing like a top line player, but he's only playing 10 minutes a night - 12 minutes in Jan.

Actually, not.

In points per 60/5v5 (500 minutes minimum played) Hartnell ranks 18th in the NHL at 2.16. That's upper echelon this season. But, he often times hasn't faced first line competition as he hasn't been on the first line all that regularly this season.

Foligno is at 1.48 which ranks 123. Clearly outside of first line performance 5v5. Especially when one considers that he has been slotted as low as the 3rd line on a regular basis.

http://stats.hockeyanalysis.com/rat...ards&minutes=500&disp=1&sort=PCT&sortdir=DESC

Saad is 48th, Dubinsky at 83rd and Atkinson at 86th. Jenner is at 103.

All these rankings will slide in Johansen's absence as they get slotted against tougher competition on average. Other than Hartnell's ranking, which will likely fall as the year goes on, none of these players other than Saad-are anywhere near acceptable for first liners on a competitive team. Toss in the horrific defense and goaltending, which would require top 25-50 performance from the first liners for any hope of a playoff berth, and "Houston, we have a problem". A big one.

Foligno's incredible season last year was driven by the PP where he ranked 4th at 7.58 pts per 60 min. He was also a very respectable 25th at 2.23 per 60 5vs 5. He was going to come off the PP performance level no matter what.

Where the Jackets, other than the slotting of players, are really going to get hurt is on the PP without Johansen. He was 11th in the league last year at 6.32 and is 9th this year at 6.96. He is elite on the PP. None of the remaining Jackets are anything more than mediocre on it. I will take Foligno's performance on the PP last year as an outlier given that he'd never topped 47 points in a season prior to last year.

As far as the starting goalie, I lean towards Korpi simply because I don't see where Bob needs a lot of work right now.....the team is going no where, and tho only place Bob may go is back on IR if he gets used too much.

Just rotate games, Bob don't get over worked and Korpi gets more great experience

what do I know thought........jmo

I get home after doing a 20 hour shift in the ****hole prison I work in and find out Bob gets hurt after I posted this well before the game

Should have never been in net......wtf are we playing for here.......pride? chili?

I'm going to try and find it and post it, but at the game last night, I noticed in the "terrible music hype montage" before the second period started yesterday, one of the highlight clips was just a brief flash of Clarkson skating off the ice in pain after getting blasted by Ovechkin, aka the end his last shift this year. No joke.
