In this thread everyone is voicing feelings about this team that I was thinking when we imploded and shat our pants against NJ in the post season.

It’s not just the results or the fact that the team is frustrating. It’s consistently being an unlikeable, boring AND frustrating team. They absolutely need huge, painful changes to the core. This group is never getting it done. I feel really, really comfortable making that statement. This core will never get it done.

The Trouba train hasn't made a stop since early December.

First couple of months of the season he laid someone on their ass every other game.

He clearly has switched to dad mode and is no longer interested in playing.

You give up 2 quality chances all period, your goalie has to stop them. I don't care if it's a 2 on 0. He is a part of the team and the skaters did their job to start a road game well. He didn't.

We are playing with half a lineup of AHL players and a few corpses and a goalie playing like a corpse right now...and people are really surprised by the results??The lack of true talent on this team was going to catch up to them eventually.its not a coaching issue,its a talent issue

The roster is what it is, but not moving bodies around the lineup while playing like this just continues to foster the country club atmosphere. The main guys are all signed to deals, embarrass them a bit. Swap Cuylle and Kreider and see how he plays next game guarantee he's not floating around.

Truth be told, the majority of cores do not get it done. Only a select few have what it takes. NYR not having one of the good cores should be surprising. What sucks about this group, is that they tease. And their contracts.

I agree but I think the difference in this case is that a lot of cores that don’t get it done, it isn’t the core that was necessarily the problem but failure from management to support the core, gambling on bad rentals, not having the depth, etc. Like Vegas was a core that kept getting close but not there. Sometimes you have a really strong core but can’t find the accompanying mix. Usually when you’re talking about teams that are considered contenders in the preseason multiple years in a row, the issue isn’t that it’s the actual core group that’s the problem.

Like in Ottawa or Buffalo you could say the core could be part of the problem and not be surprised. Here it’s a lot more disorienting to be a consistent playoff team considered at least a top 10 team annually and say the core is the problem.
