Are things really that bad with the Wild right now?
I know a couple people have already touched on this, but I'll add a little more.
This is either the third or fourth year in a row that we've had this winter slump where we go from one of the top teams in the league to just barely fighting for a playoff spot. Usually, after the slump is over, we go on a pretty good streak and end up squeaking in as the 7th or 8th seed (I'm sure you all know this).
Anyway, usually the slump has been in December and would be over by now, so we thought when we successfully made it through December, we were home free to make it in an even vie for home-ice advantage. The fact that it started so late hit us all like a ton of bricks. It also means that, depending on how long they free fall, there might not be enough time to squeak back in as a 7 or 8 seed.
On top of that, there was a post a bit ago that highlighted our slumping players that should be our best players. If I find it I'll come back here and post it. It's just downright sad at this point.
So it's creating a lot of negativity and pessimism, not just because of the streak itself, but because it's the same old story year after year, nothing has changed, and nothing will change until changes are made to the roster or coaching staff (or both).
