25 minutes for Murray and 26 for Jones, going to have every opportunity to show what they can do and honestly I think Murray has done as much for Jones as Jones has for Murray. Jones is being the flashy one and Murray I think is sacrificing some of his offense to be a little more defensive but has the smarts and ability to jump up if he decides making for a really dynamic pairing

Agreed. Jones has just been OK for me, he's showing some flashes of what he CAN be. But to me Murray has really improved since Jones got here, almost like he's been given new life. Not sure why, but Murray has really started playing well since he got paired with Jones. Hope he continues playing this well and hopefully Jones starts doing the same.

Nice win. We found a way to get 2 points and Kapo is going to be pushing Bob sooner rather than later. I also thought Golo had a strong game replacing Savard. I like his mobility a lot and he and JJ look fine to me.

If Jones and Murray play like this more often, then that's what I needed to cease having doubts about the Johansen trade.

And if Cody keeps this up, he ought to stay next to JJ when Savard gets back.

Now we just need a breakthrough by Wennberg, or a draft lottery miracle :)biglaugh: ).

Great games from JJ, Jones, and Murray. And of course Korpi.

JJ is the one guy folks haven't mentioned, but he's really picking his game up, as he seems to do every year after starting terribly. Great defensive stickwork.

You really still doubt Wennberg? I'll take **** for this reference but I think he looks like an early Zetterberg (minus the goalscoring...so far). He's still only 21 though. Zetterberg really started being Zetterberg at 23, some would argue 25.

If I still doubted him like I used to, I'd be completely dismissing the possibility of a breakout. :)

It's not a sure thing. It may never happen. I like the signs, but they're just signs, not reality. Fingers crossed.

Someone on the boards said he reminded them of another young Detroit center...Pavel Datsyuk.

I absolutely LOVED seeing Dubinsky giving Hartnell pure hell after his selfishness cost us a too-many-men penalty. Several F bombs were dropped. I'd like to see more of that when it is warranted.

he really has been good with his stick. he still makes some iffy decisions but he does it on the boards now instead of giving up grade A chances. seems to be playing a more simple game and setting into a role he should be in which early is paying off

So we should wait a few more games before we put Jones on the write in ballot for Norris trophy?:sarcasm:

But seriously, those guys have been very good for each other. It has definitely jumped started Murray, having Jones as his partner. This was game five of them together so good things are in store for the whole D corps if this pair is successful.

Hell, you might as well break out the Little Kings.:amazed:

This stuff still around? It was a definite rough morning.

Made it to the game tonight...first one since the trade. Great atmosphere in the arena, especially considering we're in 30th place in the league. People who say Columbus is not a hockey town are full of ****!

One play that really caught my attention. Late in the game (before JJ scored), the Jackets had some pressure on in the Avs zone and the puck came back to Jones at the blue line. I don't remember if he one-timed it or caught it and shot, but the puck absolutely exploded off his stick. We were sitting behind the Avs goal in the 3rd and it was so noticeable compared to all the other shots by both sides throughout the game. I am very excited about the potential for a Jones-Murray, Johnson-Savard, Werenski(maybe)-Goloubef D-corps next year!

Well that's good too. I like Zetterberg because Wennberg isn't flashy like Datsyuk and is also Swedish as opposed to Russian. But I'll take either! Clearly you can't go wrong with either. Wennberg also has more size than both anyways so we will see!

I'm not holding my breath though. I'll be happy if he's a strong, consistent, two way, 50-60pt center

While I was disappointed that I didn't get to see Bob's return to the lineup, Korpisalo was amazing!

Was cool to see two ex-Monsters goalies starting in the same NHL game. This kind of stuff is why I'm glad Cleveland is in the AHL instead of the ECHL.

One other Monsters-related note: Despite several years of the Avalanche being the Monsters parent club, I think the Jackets dressed more ex-Monsters than the Avs.
