If we win tonight, I’m going to start being a believer for the final WC spot. If we lose, it’s just going to show we aren’t serious. You cant come out tonight without fire and determination and expect to make the playoffs.

GGs Boys! Let’s Go!

This is why spending a 2nd on Fowler was a good idea. The team is fighting for a playoff spot. Will they get there? It’s long odds. But there is a big difference between playing high intensity hockey down the stretch and just running out the string (like teams in Buffalo, Chicago, Anaheim, etc).

I still think they’ll come up short, but if they can rattle off a win streak for a couple weeks it will start to look realistic to sneak in. Vancouver seems poised to implode, and passing Calgary looks very doable.

Vancouver is down 3-0 in the first to LA.

Calgary is now +5
with a loss in regulation tonight Van would be +4
Blues are now +2
Utah is winning would be +1

they are giving themselves a chance to win a race and Van/Cal opening the door with losses

I gotta tell ya guys, between Parayko peaking and the emergence of Tucker this Blues D core is giving me a stiffy right now.

Also Holly-Schenner-Rouzy is giving me Schwartz-Schenn-Tarasenko flasbacks. Schenn’s re-emergence has been so satisfying to watch, I knew he couldn’t be washed up yet dammit lol.

I wouldn't say they are a good bet to make the playoffs, but I don't think the odds are long anymore. Snagging 2 regulation wins against the team currently sitting in the WC2 spot is massive.

Vancouver is in free fall. Dustin Wolf has been carrying Calgary and looked very much like a rookie tonight. Utah just went down 5-3 with 37 seconds left. That will be their 10th loss out of 12 games. All 3 have a double digt negative goal differential.

Door is wide open even though we've played 2 extra games.

Glowing words from Monty on Colt from Korac: With Parayko making it a point of emphasis to shoot pucks more, I asked Montgomery if he's had those conversations with him to keep shooting, "I think I’ve had one conversation with him since I’ve been here, and I grabbed him after about seven games and I said, 'Hey, I haven’t talked to you much because don’t change a thing.’ That’s the only thing I said to him. And I think he’s taking it upon himself to shoot more. He’s a player that you can tell by the way he’s playing that he wants to play playoff hockey, he wants to play meaningful hockey. He’s leading us that way."

Glad they took care of business. The Flames are not a playoff worthy hockey team. Not sure how much stock I put into Dreger’s report. Couple of frustrating losses to Buffalo and Columbus, sure, but the organization is laying the foundation for some good things down the road this year. If I were Armstrong I’d be quite pleased with my work. Hard to believe he’d go into the locker room and start making threats considering the expectations. No one had or has delusions of grandeur for 2024-25 as far as rocketing up the standings.

What did Dreger say?
