Post-Game Talk: GAME 45 - THE BEAR swims in the Everglades - BRUINS 4 Sunrise 3 F/OT

Did McLaughlin play today??

Yeah, sort of. Got less than 5 mins TOI.

Was one of those games where both teams basically shortened the bench and mostly played only their first 3 lines. Big workload for the top guys - Pasta, Barkov and Reinhart 25 mins, Zacha, Lindholm and Tkachuk 23. No messing about when these two rivals meet, they come to play and play to win.

This win reminded me of last year's playoffs. It is the 1st first game that Swayman made the biggest impact. That being said the Rodrigues goal(1st one) can't happen. I don't understand how modern goalies don't poke check, fight the shot from that close. He passively thought he had all holes covered. Why take the chance, especially, he seems to have an aggressive mindset out there as far as clearing screeners.
Definitely great for the B's in many ways, confidence that they can still be resilient. Too many games this year that they seemed to get down on themselves and quit.
Sway is on an 8-game run, where his Save % is where you would expect it to be.

The Boston Bruins secured a 4-3 overtime victory against the Florida Panthers on Saturday to snap their six-game losing streak. After the victory, Jeremy Swayman’s girlfriend Alessandra’s mother Monique joined him in the locker room interview, where she heaped praise on the Bruins goaltender.

Monique expressed how overjoyed she was and how well everything came together for the team on the night. She also mentioned that she was proud of Swayman and praised his game.

“Unbelievable. It was a great game,” Monique said. “Everything just fell in place at the right time, and he played a great game. So excited for him.”

Yesterday was a goalie steal. We’ve had a bunch of those last year. This was the first one of the season where our goalie gets 95% of the credit. Last year it seems like half the games were goalie steals. This year not so much, but it does feel like Sway turned a corner yesterday.

I would put Coyle back at 3C and just hope he plays better. The Lindholm line was trapped in their own end a lot . They need a boost of speed . Bring up Lysell and move Coyle back down . Marchand is always noticeable even when he plays bad but Lindholm is never noticeable.

Bruins have significant holes throughout the line up still. They won one game where Swayman plays like last years PO. Unfortunately there are 30+ games left and he isn't playing 10 games like that the rest of the year. Maybe gives you 5 ike that and against good teams you are going to need that from him.

Their center Corp is still performing at a sub playoff level and D Corp also. Nothing changed yesterday that alters my view they are as likely to qualify as DNQ.

Islanders & Rangers with back-to-back wins against Vegas at Vegas and Columbus won also.

If anything, it should have reenforced that view.

Bruins were quite terrible for most of the game.

The blue line was a wall against the Bruins trying to get a puck over it from their own end.

Why was Oesterle on the ice for the tying goal with 2 seconds left? Or Pasta, for that matter.

They were on the ice for a while, iced it a few times and we're hemmed in for over 1:43

Iced the puck numerous times because zacha could not win faceoff

He made a great play to prevent a goal in the 3rd. I thought he was noticeable in a good way.

Unfortunately that is pretty much all his game. Very responsible defensively. He got the puck out while being jammed on the boards a couple of times and that play negated what was a certain HDSC.

His problem is he has almost zero NHL offensive ability (outside of being F1 on a forececk) and especially on a team that struggles big time offensively, isn't going to be able to stick.

If McLaughlin being a local kid accepted being an AHL lifer with Boston he would have some value being a consistent 15\16 F called up when needed the next couple of seasons.

4 times they could have attempted a simple high lob out of the zone but no, they have to try for the open net.

The team is loaded with low hockey IQ players.

Even the winning goal Pasta was making a pass with 2 seconds on the clock,

They bring it on their own.

Good question! With 1 minute and a bit left Sacco puts out all the guys who can't clear the zone! Sacco is more clueless than the one that got fired. I hope that by the start of next season that the B's will have hired a legit coach!
