GDT: Game 45: Sharks vs. Wild 7:00pm NBCSCA

This game imitates life. Things look bad. But expecting things to get better is stupid and setting yourself up for disappointment. Nothing gets better. Just like the Sharks won't get better :)

See ya'll next game

21st game where the Sharks have

Just don't have the requisite talent. Top 4 pick will help, but still need load up on picks and prospects as the core is still so young and so much more is needed especially on the defensive end.
Coaching is a much bigger problem. A big part of success is finding contributions from young or limited players, and Warso is atrocious at it.

I would've liked Kaliyev as a shooting threat on the 3rd line.

What's with the suicidal thoughts? We played a pretty solid game. Massively outshot them, two bad turnovers lead to two goals against. Celebrini looked like his old self with Eklund. Keep them together.

I was watching without sound so I'm not sure if Smith got benched or injured, but hope he's ok.

Fun game, too bad Fleury decided to be Hasek. That new top line looked great - please don't separate Eklund and Celebrini if possible. Second line doesn't work, but I would want to see Smith up there with Granlund and Zetterlund to see how that works out with Kovalenko-Wennberg-Graf as the 3rd line. I thought Ferraro had a terrible game (pre-Liljegren level bad), and it was nice to see Walman back (definitely have missed him). Askarov looked great again.

TL;dr: fun game to watch, good for the Schaefer quest. Onto the next one.

Smith was benched after bonehead play couldn't clear the puck out of the zone lead to wild almost score on Askorov.

Eklund and Celebrini and someone fast. Toffoli is too slow.

1.Eklund-Celebrini-Graf
2. Kunin-Granlund-Zetterlund
3.Wennberg-Toffoli--Kovalenko
4.Grunstrum-Goodrow-Sturm

Smith should have 3 games (Development Day). He just not making smart play.

Yeah, maybe Zetterlund would work better with 72-71. I would put Graf with Wennberg/Toffoli then and Kovelanko as the F1 with Granlund/Smith.

My background/theme has turned into dark background since the forum software was updated. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same thing? I can't seem to figure out how to make the background white again. The dark background seems to only show on Firefox.

Was that the same sequence where Goodrow made a terrible and boneheaded play that led to the Sharks getting pinned in their own zone in the first place? Hard to remember; there were a few.

I think he was benched. Didn't see anyone look injured or anything

I swear, watching the game without being influenced by certain posters' narratives, you come away with a completely different take on this performance, even if an L is an L.

Having Walman back is a game-changer for this team. Seriously, as amazing as Celebrini has been, Walman might actually be the team's MVP so far this season.

So what did you see that's different? Sounds like Beanie did well with NHL talent and AHL Smith got benched. Sounds like Walman coming back was huge as expected.

Basically, the Sharks dominated the game and on a typical night would've scored a couple more and won.

As far as Smith, I thought him getting benched was an overreaction and actually hampered the rest of the team in the 3rd, what with the line-juggling that it necessitated. He had a couple struggles with a turnover or two and getting out of his zone, but the last thing I remember from him was actually a very good job of getting the puck out with perfect weight to allow for a line change in the 2nd.

We've seen him on that line before and it's far from ideal for him or the other guys, especially if they're getting put out there repeatedly against the other team's top line. Kunin has been pretty solid this year but Goodrow is sadly an anchor at this point and it feels like malpractice to put a raw, developing player like Smith out there with him in those situations.

Was my birthday game (tomorrow technically) and was hoping for a win. Even got a steal on section 114 row 4 seats after selling my nosebleeds. I thought we outplayed the Wild for the most part but costly turnovers and Fleury being great was the difference. Seeing that lazy Smith turnover up close, I understood why he was benched. Though, I’m not sure if it needed to be that long. Minnesota generated 3-4 chances off of it. Celebrini, Eklund and Walman looked solid. Unfortunate that the empty netter will count against Askarov. He should have been pulled earlier. He left at the worst moment possible (poor zone entry and turnover?),

Team played a pretty good game, Celly and Eklund looked great together. AHL Granlund needs to play better, when he’s going, the team has a couple dangerous lines but he’s been horrendous since his injury, gotta wonder how healthy he truly is.

The execution wasn't all there, but I thought this was the best Granlund has looked since that injury, at least in terms of skating and, I don't know, zip or something. So at least that's promising.

Kovalenko-Granlund-Smith was something I was begging for since we got him. Makes a ton of sense logically but who knows...

I found how to change it to light and it stayed dark lol 😂
