Glad to see Jones get his first point with that shot. Seems like he's gaining confidence in his more prominent role up there for you guys. And I mean that more based on his defensive play and that he's more crisp with his offensive possession than he was in Nashville. I've seen at least some of every Columbus game since the trade except for last night. I saw the stats in that one so maybe that was a dud, I just don't know it.

What is really impressive about tonight is there are only 3 old guys playing.

Edit: Can't count - forgot Boll, Campbell & Bourque. Let's just say 3 old guys playing real minutes.

I don't disagree with Jody and Rimer when they say the collapse at the end of the first game of the season was really, really impactful.

The problem though is obviously what came after. Was that collapse the cause of the terrible start, or did it just reveal a weakness that always was there? If the Jackets win that game, do things change? Would we still be seeing HCTR and Joey employed by the team?

Just some musings in response to the radio broadcast

How has Jones looked for you guys in his first few games as a Blue Jacket?

Very impressive. Skates well, very quick decisions with the puck, and steps up very nicely into the play offensively. He and Murray seem to have already developed some nice chemistry back there.

I blame the collapse in the first game ever, up 3-0 and lose 5-3. If it wasn't for that this team would have won multiples Cups by now.

I've been proposing that we neglected some issues because Bob was able to make us look better than we were.

Agree... but it's more than that, the CBJ have never been consistent.. Coaching has been an issue but we rarely hear about the guys responsible for scouting depth... Great organizations have great minds filling the minor league with players who will fill in at the NHL level... Depth and organization is the place winning begins..

Given how the wheels completely came off, I have to agree. The swoons that we're seeing the Rangers and Pens experience seem like something that could have been lurking for this group.

The story was that this was a good-looking team with issues on D. Are those the issues you mean?

Discouraging part is the extent to which the FO bought that story.

As far as Bob goes, that we couldn't compete at all when he was in that funk shows you're right about that
