Very very curious to see how Noah Philp will do in this test run. Can he be the answer for the 4th line center come playoffs? If so, that takes away another team need and allows management to focus on defence at the TDL.

In order to uno-reverso the overconfidence jinx, I predict that the oilers start slow and listless, and Minny puts up three in the first. The Oilers put up a valiant effort in the second and third periods; even scoring a goal; but ultimately they get “goalied” and lose 4 - 1; with Hartman scoring the empty netter.

I PRAY that my prediction is wrong!

Go Oilers!

the best part is Jackson even said he spent most of July 1st calling Skinners agent on updates and trying to get him to sign here. That is what he spent his day doing lol.

I sometimes honestly wonder if Paul Coffey is honestly the only competent person in the org. Like how much of even Knob's "defensive success" with the team is mainly a product of Coffey.

For me Philp would have to really blow the doors off to make me not want to acquire a more seasoned 4th line C.

We are very likely going to have enough cap room to address our needs and then some, so unless he gives a very good reason for not getting someone else I'd rather just put out a fly with a sledgehammer and get a new 4C. Worst case we have real, legitimate NHL everyday talent on the Black Aces, which is a great problem to have.

Hope Philp has a good showing. No idea what the plan is with J Skinner. As mentioned above very obvious that management and coaching were not on the same page with this player.

Nah. Knob and his zone defence system is a huge part of that. A system he's been perfecting his whole coaching career. Coffey should be given credit for our transition and puck movement play probably from our defence.

The team defensive structure is a lot more than just the D. Give Coffey his flowers for sure, but Knobber is a good systems coach full stop.

For anybody wondering if you can't figure it out, it's at the bottom of the page.

I get the feeling that Noah Philp is coming for Derek Ryan's job.

That's an argument I've always made about McDavid too. If you know his personality, know his character, and know his motivations in life:

"At the end of the day, I'm a hockey player, and I like playing hockey, and I want to be surrounded by people that love hockey"

McDrai give no shits about Palm Trees. They are in it for the Hockey.

Weird, wonder what happened with Ekholm.

Hope we don't see multiple blueline fumbles by Bouchard tonight leading to many odd man breaks.

I am too lazy to look, but is it true Bouchard doesn't even have ONE pp goal this year? That is insane.

Could we beat the brakes off these guys for a second consecutive time? That sure would be nice.

probably not, cause they'll have this date circled on the calendar while the oilers just mosey along into town

Hope ekholm is just sick and not injured

could be an inflamed pubic bone

I didnt know that it could be, but then that one time... it was. So it could be. And IIRC, that defencemans name ... was Dick
