Big time PK right there, of course that's just my opinion, I haven't actually ever played the game

Then please be quiet. :sarcasm::laugh:

Don't know why I put that qualifier out there about the goalie playing the puck - seemed like a good thing.:badidea:

Great idea.

Well, if he goes back to school for a senior year then we hold it for another year, if he leaves school after this year but doesn't sign by July 1, he becomes a UFA.

here we go again:laugh: I thought it was June 1st. If he goes back we hold until Aug 1 next year. That part I'd bet a $1 on.

Do cbj get anything if he goes to ufa what's to stop all prospects to go to ufa and try and play for Chicago or la
Only applies to college players. CHL and Europeans are pretty much held to the team they're drafted to until the team says otherwise (Free agency, trade, etc).

Little extra shot on RyJo at the end there, little stuff like that will happen all game with some teams, troop has been useless

You're nitpicking for every little thing. these things go on every game. Nobody is swinging at anyone after the play. These guys can handle themselves if its a little shove.

What if we offer the max ELC and he says no? Can the nhl not do something about that? Doesn't seem fair at all. I feel like they should at least give you the pick back example like give the cbj another 4th

Nope. Jackets would get nothing if he walks. They can still trade his rights though.

Not sure about Europeans but CHL guys go back into the draft if not signed in two years.

What would you guess the value of his rights are?

Probably pretty high. He's a great prospect...But teams would probably throw us jack **** in return because they could see the interview just like we did and know he's going to be a UFA and could just wait.

You guys just don't get it....its the little rats like him that play like they are 6'2" when there is no policeman out there

No, I get it. I also see the Jason Zucker was poking at James Wisniewski, a battle Zucker knows he can't win. He also has 0 career fights, not exactly a good partner for his first. Jared Boll only plays 5 minutes, I don't understand why this is such a big deal on these boards.

Is it just me or does the Draft seem useless?

Also, why wouldn't someone want to play in Columbus? It's not like we're the Topeka Blue Jackets.

This is what happened to Anaheim with Justin Schultz. Might have been a blessing in disguise though. Wasn't the team who paid him big money. Maybe if they held onto him, they don't draft Fowler or Lindholm.

But at the same time, why would a team give up a lot when they know he could potentially become a UFA. Since he's in school, can't sign a contract right now right? So even if we give teams permission to talk to him. They can't sign him and would only be going off his promise to sign once school is over. Then why would we give teams permission to talk? He can agree to a contract. Team waits for him to become a UFA, rather then giving up assets.

And reading through these posts I saw a lot of big bickering about whether it should be Boll or Tropp playing. It seems like a lot about arguing which is the cleanest shirt in the dirty laundry. Stats are pretty clear. Boll has no goals and 31 games, Tropp has no goals and 29 games and for that matter Gibbons says no goals and 21 games (thank god he's not playing which spares us of the argument). Also worth mentioning Morin has but one goal in 14 games though he has shown some skill. I don't know that any of them should be playing. And while I'm at it I won't overlook everyone's darling Wennberg who has but one goal and 33 games with Hardly supports him being on the third line. Letestu with four goals and 15 games makes with him a far better option at one of the higher lines.

Agree. It would be relatively easy for him to play and we are youngest team in the league on an upswing and will be able to compete when we are healthy. As well as he has family here I relly don't know

Okay, re: Reilly. I think we keep his rights until June 1 or 30 days after he drops out of school whichever comes first. After being drafted in 2011, he played one year for the Penticon Bees which means that after this season it will be 4 years since his draft so he can definitely become a UFA if we don't sign him by June 1. If he goes back we hold his rights till Aug 15 next year like CBJWennberg said. Very confusing.

Caveat: This post has all the credibility of a Wikipedia post.

Probably for the reason vogeezy stated here. Young team on the upswing. HE has a big chance to play in the AHL next year, he may not want to play in the AHL and knows the competition in the NHL is too great for him right now. So he can sign elsewhere (As in, the Wild perhaps.) and play in the NHL right away. I really think he wants to play for the Wild.

I think it is dangerous with college guys picked in later rounds who have a real good college career. Then they can easily pick where they want to play.
