its not

was rootin for him but aint workin. team always comes out flat when he starts too.
Yeah, he played decent enough for 4 of 5 games before Todd and the team just didn't score in 3 of them, but since the Buffalo yanking, I think the team just seems off when he plays, I think the players have no confidence in Husso if he lets one in early.

If that is the case, there is little sense in playing him again, but they may have no choice if Lyon is not ready by Sunday. If the team cannot (will not) play (well) in front of Husso, it may affect SY TDL options.

Statistically, the wings played well enough to win, but from my eye test, they did not, way to much puck watching by the skaters and not enough gap control and checking. That could have been a 3-2 win or a 5-4 win for the wings. These are things the coach can hopefully fix.

I suspect T-Mc will start him again over calling up Campbell/Cossa until Lyon is back as he is still in the evaluation phase of the team, and poor performances are part of what he is looking for and to fix.

Well that game was a disappointment. Steve needs to find a sucker to take Husso. Maybe we can get a 6th if we are lucky.
On the bright side, at least we are scoring more. Tank got 2 last night, finally.

We were due for a reality check.

Looks like Tarasenko could get going at the same time Cat cools off.

Larkin had a poor game as well. It was kind of comical watching him skate in circles on their 3rd goal (I think), never finding the right guy to cover.
Larkin doesn't have many flaws in his game, but that third goal showed the one that occasionally pops up with him. He is such a good puck retriever, he will give up covering his man to go get it. Gave up on staying with Celebrini and didn't come away with the puck. Sharks made him pay. The lazy turnover after winning the opening draw didn't help either.

But Larks at least atoned for his mistake on that pretty face off win and pass to Raymond for a goal.

Barring a big rash of goalie injuries, I don't see anyone paying to take Husso this year.

He will likely sign in the off-season with a team that actually plays defense on a minimum type deal and be a real steal for them...the fiasco last night was a real (sarcastic) team effort.

Question:

Does "East West Hockey" imply a lot of cross-ice passes that are easy to intercept? Does "North South Hockey" in turn imply a lot of direct attacks down the slot with not enough maneuvering?
To some degree yes.

East West Hockey I take to usually mean more puck possession. Spreading the ice out. More passing overall and trying to attack those lanes between the dots. On the negative it can lead to cutesy play, overpassing in general and badly time cross ice passes. You typically hang on to the puck longer but this can also lead to worse give aways.

North South I tend to think of as a more breakout/ rush style of offense that typically lends itself to more dump/chase hockey. You hang onto the puck less, play more of a quick strike offense, skate the puck more, and drive the net more. When cycling the puck I think you see more of the mentality of get it to the point and get the puck back on net. The negative of this style being you spend a lot more time chasing the puck, and rely more on odd man breaks to score.

He really does tend to do this a bit. He chases the puck instead of covering his man.

yeah we've been in a real funk lately, like the last 7 games
By wake up, I mean the wings have to show up and play f____g hockey every game, too many of them did not show up last night against a team they should beat. If you want to watch the puck, go sit in the press box.

They can play lights out for the next 4 games for 60 minutes per game and still lose 3 or 4 of them...they need to wake up and win the games they should, especially at home as their season hopes will go south in a hurry if they play down to the teams they should beat.

I hope they don't have a big slide at this stage of the season, but this team needs to find the consistency to be able to win any game on a given night...it was not there last night (and not even close to being there)...and I doubt the coach will GAF about the last 6 and 2/3's of the games, he will focus on the last 1 1/3.

How the team deals with this lose over the next week will dictate the rest of the season.
