I’m not sure if that’s the reason, over the past few years up until this season it felt like the league was wide open, teams were flying up and down the ice and there were tons of shots and goals. Now it seems like the games are much slower. It’s just something I’ve noticed and I hate it.

NBAification of the league. The top, top players are so talented but the middle, lower end are pretty much mid at everything. Used to be that teams had checking lines, and defense that were much more physical--invested in disruption and especially about making players pay for the ice they take. Only a few teams have something like this anymore -- Winnipeg, Carolina, Tampa. People watch NJ and tell me that's all about speed and skill... yeah right. The Devils are a top team because they're allowed to exist as such.

When a player like Cuylle can skate through the middle of the ice between the blueline and tops of the circles with impunity, you're looking at a league with no teeth.
