I swear, even the supposed top teams in the league look mediocre to me. This season has been so bizarre. I don’t think there is a legitimately great team in the entire league outside of perhaps Edmonton. Perhaps that is the reason why the number of shots per game is rivaling the lowest in the history of the league.

A 5 year flat cap & expansion has turned this into a watered down slog of a league.

I’m not sure if that’s the reason, over the past few years up until this season it felt like the league was wide open, teams were flying up and down the ice and there were tons of shots and goals. Now it seems like the games are much slower. It’s just something I’ve noticed and I hate it.

I get the expansion part but not the flat cap part. It's not like there's a wealth of potential top 6 guys playing in Russia because the NHL can't pay them an enticing enough wage

But there's been no teams that can afford to add to their core groups, unless they pull some LTIR shenanigans. 3 of the last 5 cup winners have been miles over the cap.
