GDT: Game 42: Red Wings vs kraken 3:00 pm et 1/12/25

When you see the schedule in March and April you get to worry.
5 last games are vs very strong teams and 4 out of 5 on the road. The game vs the sharks on Tuesday is a must win.
The counterpoint to that is that those teams are probably already qualified for the playoffs. Playing teams that are fighting tooth and nail to get into the playoffs is not gonna be much easier.

Kasper wins a tonne of puck battles for a rookie it seems like. He fits on that line nicely.

Johansson has strung together a couple really strong games, he's thrown a few big hits while he's at it too.

If you're not big, not a great skater, not a big point producer ... you kind of have to be what Aljo has been to stick in the NHL: a really heads-up player who makes good decisions, battles, moves the puck, stays within himself. Playing with a dominant multi-tooled partner who is everything you aren't helps a lot too.

Wtf exactly was Lalonde teaching this team?
Yeah when Todd said this:
“Right now, we’ve been able to have some success,” McLellan said. “And the nuggets that we try to give the players, because they’ve had success with them, they’re kind of waiting for more now. Like, ‘what else do you have for us?'”
I had that same thought. Also curious what kind of push-pull things the coaches are trying and I can only imagine jokes. "Hey Ray... Are you going to play like you're 5'7" today or 5'11?"

Our last 7 game win streak was 2012

It's too bad Dallas decided to lose their 7 game streak to the f***in sens of all teams. Right after giving away a point to Montreal
7 straight wins and f*** all to show for it, because our dogshit ass division decided they wanted to show up right at the same time 👍

Giving AlJo consistent playing time with a partner he is comfortable with seems to have done him wonders.
But I thought NHL rookie defensemen were supposed to be able to yoyo in and out of the lineup with ever changing partners and figure out their game in half a season. I mean obviously, if they can't do that they are obviously no Moritz Seider and should be replaced on the second or third pair by someone destined for the HHOF... But still young... and cheap

Montreal is playing above themselves. They’ll cool down.
Ottawa is actually playing to about where they should be until Ullmark flops.
Boston put their money on the wrong Lindholm this offseason.

This is a different story entirely if Detroit didn’t give points away to each of these shitbags under Lalonde.

Only thing that sucks is we got hot, but Mtl, and a few others also got hot and we gained very little ground. We of course will cool off at some point, which shows just how hard it is to make up 8 pts that we were back before this even with a 7 game win streak.

Wondering how the team will react once the winning streak dies off and they get used to full day to day with Todd.

Love the whole teams skating effort change with the new coach, as I legit thought Kane was skating his retirement tour before the coaching change.

Lalonde was doing bad bad things to this team. Kane must of really hated him.

We shouldn't be scared of our schedule, if we can beat the Jets and Caps we have nothing to fear.
Yeah. Kane is playing some of the best hockey I’ve seen.

He’s hustling. Back checking and forechecking.

I know he was held off the USA so I imagine he’s salty about. Dudes a winner. I’m not saying he’s prime Kane… he’s 36 with a replaced hip but he’s been soo damn good.

Knock on wood.
