I genuinely wish we could trade Panarin and Trouba. I don’t even really care what the return is. If we could do so without retaining or taking back any anchor contracts, I’d take as much cap space as we can manage to save (salary would be coming back, but hopefully smaller contributing players or expiring/less term) and make a serious effort to revamp the identity of the forward group with it. We need speed that has a shoot first mentality. Not one. Not two. Five of our forwards should have a shoot first mentality. Minimum. They should like trying to attack the center of the ice, even if it fails often. They should have a drive the middle of the offensive zone and rip mentality. I honestly get so withdrawn from watching this season because I’m just completely done with Panarin. I wouldn’t care if he had 100 assists this year. He’s not a player you win with 12M committed to.
