Here is a clue for GMs: If a defenseman's defense suck don't sign up unless he has Erik Karlsson level offense

Never any good. He was an offensive defenseman/power play point compiler. We overpaid for how good he was even in that role, and then Fox supplanted him making him nearly valueless to us.

Like I said this type of defenseman never works out. Playing D should be the number one thing to look at

Vesey is an anchor on that line with Chytil and Laf. Laf moved the puck pretty good on 5v5 and that short PP, but he drifted behind the net when he could've had a great tap in chance if he had snuck back in front

Trouba’s acquisition was an overpay but not terrible at the time. It’s just become terrible because he’s been supplanted and placed in a role he sucks at. Suddenly “overpaid by $2-$3 million” becomes “completely untenable and have to dump.”

But as others have said he still has a reputation and probably fetches a decent package. Tell him he’s getting demoted and watch how fast he waives. All those people saying he can’t be moved are liars and they are lying because they don’t want him to be moved.

Or didn’t, that worm is turning.

This is him. This is what he always was.

He wasn't this bad. He usually played in the second pairing and was generally solid but we definitely have the occasional gaff. Usually his mistakes were mental mistakes. This year a lot of them are physical mistakes. I absolutely believe he's still playing hurt at this point that's not really an excuse anymore. Either he needed to sit to get healthy or the coaching staff needed to sit him.

I genuinely wish we could trade Panarin and Trouba. I don’t even really care what the return is. If we could do so without retaining or taking back any anchor contracts, I’d take as much cap space as we can manage to save (salary would be coming back, but hopefully smaller contributing players or expiring/less term) and make a serious effort to revamp the identity of the forward group with it. We need speed that has a shoot first mentality. Not one. Not two. Five of our forwards should have a shoot first mentality. Minimum. They should like trying to attack the center of the ice, even if it fails often. They should have a drive the middle of the offensive zone and rip mentality. I honestly get so withdrawn from watching this season because I’m just completely done with Panarin. I wouldn’t care if he had 100 assists this year. He’s not a player you win with 12M committed to.
