GDI if they have a delayed penalty give them the puck so you can get 6 on 4 with as much time on the clock as possible. I know I've bitched about this before. C'mon man. Basic stuff.

0 for 2 on the PP tonight.

I want to see a place for Campbell in this organization as she's such a widely respected skating guru, but I really struggle to see how this coaching staff survives this season with their jobs.

Pulling the goalie with over 4 minutes left on the clock. That's how you know things are going spectacularly well.
The fact Campbell is even behind a bench in the NHL means she's probably at least 300% better of a coach than random Average Joe Assistant.

Before tonight's game, Grubauer was 51st (3.47) out of 57 goalies in GA/A and 52nd (.880) out of 57 goalies in SV%.

Haven't been home very long, but ehh yuck. I hope Daccord is all the way healthy if he's going to have to step in on his nights off.

Hate to say it, but that would be for the best.
This is a lost season. Bottom-5 of the league with half the season gone. I don't want us to tank on purpose but if we trade Gourde once he is back from IR, I think it will just happen organically.

I agree, I think she brings a particularly specific expertise and I like having coaches like that in the organization I support...but I don't see how anyone on this coaching staff survives this disaster of a season.

Exactly. I don't know. I was pretty excited to see her get a chance in the NHL and see what she could do but the PP has been as bad as the other areas of our team. Hard to defend her if you hold Bylsma and the other assistant coaches accountable for the current state of the team.

It look like it is time to buyout Grubauer at the end of the season. When the homers calling the game struggle to find anything good to say, you're cooked extra crispy.
I’d cut him/buy him out now. You’re losing games anyhow, barring a huge miracle you are not making the playoffs. Bring up the guy they just had up and play him once a week to get experience and find out what you have in him.

I think we as a group here identified after 20 games that there simply isn’t a fire amongst this team as a whole. Individuals or occasionally lines go on heaters, but there’s no pushback, no real “Kraken hockey”, despite the catchphrase. The Kraken of two seasons ago were relentless. This iteration is just less, and relent.

I think it's particularly frustrating because that season 2 team was an absolute joy to root for, and halfway through this season I find myself actually loathing this apparent culture of zero resiliency and jam.

Does Ron Francis give interviews? Has put forward any opinions about the state of the current Kraken team? Nothing has reached southern Ontario, likely a case of the usual myopia by sports media outfits slavishly following every word from the Leafs.

You articulated it really well. I wear the jerseys, cheer for the logo on the front, but actively dislike this squad’s efforts and am growing weary of some of its players.

Kraken media honestly seem just sort of happy to participate in the "hope everyone has fun" marketing experiment that is the Seattle Kraken, and dont really hold Francis or the team to the fire like team's in "serious" hockey cities would were they to say...not post any sort of injury updates or game lineups to social media, or sign players like Stephenson to ludicrous UFA offer sheets.

Well who really is having fun anymore? Even the casual fans are probably starting to tire of the beatings the team is getting.

Bluesky #SEAKRAKEN would seem to imply the casual folks are still trucking along.

Seriously get Oleksiak off this team...

I don't think it depends on trading Gourde, the players are just going through the motions already.

Got to think Bylsma is gone after this season. I don't know how Francis can otherwise justify a season worse than last one after the addition of Montour.

Francis can't put this on the coaching staff. Not Campbell or Bylsma. It's just not credible. No one is buying that. He just fired Hak. The roster isn't good enough and he'll have to own it.

Frankly I think it's obvious enough that ownership will know it. As I have been saying, the decision for ownership is whether Francis is the guy to run the long term build, not whether to focus on the long term build.

On paper, our roster is better this season than in our 2nd season. Blaming it on coaching could be easy. You can always make excuses if you want .. LOL

Of course, I agree with you, though. The roster stinks. We have too many middling players who are getting overpaid or underperforming. In some cases, both. I think we are stuck for another two seasons until those contracts are done. This basically prohibits us from going after any big fish. And then there is Stephenson.

I don't see the team getting any better till the 2027-28 season when majority of these contracts are off the books. If Francis actually looked at our current state, he has to see this. The best thing to do in start adding to the prospect pool over this period. I would seriously consider moving out Bjorkstrand, Gourde, Oleksiak as I think they will get a positive return. If not this TDL then atleast the off-season (not Gourde ofcourse as he is a UFA). Buyout Bura or Gru. I would love to trade the other but I doubt we will be willing to take that on. Buyout the remaining of the two in the off-season after next.

I can't see Francis making this many moves anyway. But he can't just sit on his hands and pray that things go away.

One thing that sucks is that when a team is up against the cap like this, you have to hope that some of the prospects really pan out, and do it early enough to contribute while they're still cheap.

Otherwise it's just going to be the same ol situation for a few years while waiting for certain contracts to expire. Granted, even if they don't stick in the NHL at least they'll play hungry.

Well, Francis should be done too.

He fired a guy he just gave a three year extension just to bring up Bylsma and I honestly don't want him to keep "building the roster".

Hopefully Leweike makes some changes and doesn't just promote someone like Botterill.
