Canes fan coming in peace. Just wanted to say two things.

1) The game was a lot closer than the score indicated. I was at the game and it was very even from my vantage in terms of scoring chances and shots. Maybe the Canes had an edge in scoring chances, but if so, not by a lot. You also ran into Cam Ward who is only in the past 2 weeks playing well. A month ago he would have given up 4 or 5 goals in tonight's game.

2) I was trying to look out for Seth Jones, but damn if I didn't keep checking my scoresheet at David Savard. I really liked his game tonight. He is such an aggressive D and a fun one to watch. Seems like a keeper and I think it was smart to lock him up for a few years.

What about when Curtis Mac went down. Everyone stood around and watched. Nobody stood up for their goaltender. :shakehead

The point is, no one saw what happened to Curtis Mac or Captain Nick (Maybe Murray, do you want him fighting) they were watching the puck. I know it could be argued that if Joey was on the ice last night he would have seen what happened to Captain Nick while he was floating around.

Brassard publicly said he lost his passion in Cbus. He was not going to get better in Cbus.

Mason stated that he almost quit hockey in Columbus.

Voracek has never scored more than 23 goals, and has had 1 sixty point season and 1 eighty point season, makes 8 million and has two fewer goals than Matty Calvert. (and I liked Jake)

Nash asked out.

And what do all of these people players have in common? They were drafted and developed by a different FO. You know who was developed by this one? Savard.

1st pairing is actually generous, but he's made huge leaps after this FO challenged him to do so.

Joey was really the only one that's valid, and its' not like the problems he's had here he didn't have other places.

This is the epitome of supporting your conclusion with the thesis. "Columbus sucks, because they and give up on talent, because they're Columbus and Columbus sucks."

Give me a break.

The prior CBJ ownership (IDWT) was horrible with rookies. I shared this story on other boards but they had no plan to deal with young players, no support.
Zherdev ran crazy in this town. Lived in Arena Crossing busted down his door a few times (literally). Partied all the time. Eventually he bought a condo near by and he would be blaring Russian Techno music for after hour parties during the week. Keep in mind the authorities that responded to all of these was Nationwide Security (NRI) so the Jackets knew everything he was doing. Their only solution was to bring his mother other to live with him.

Then Filatov moved into his place once he was drafted. Guess what during camp neither the Jackets nor his Agent made sure he had basic amenities - he was often times that first week in the hall way steealing Wi-Fi from the neighbors. Now I believe in personal accountability but you bring a kid over from Russia the team should look out for him.

Mason when he got mono the team didn't care for him. A neighbor of ours (she rented him the condo) took him food when she found out he was sick. Jackets did nothing - now his parents did show up a few days later to take care of him.

Svitov also lived in building with his wife and baby. Baby got sick/choked, his wife/gf didn't speak English and/or know to call 911. Was running down the hall screaming and luckily one of the neighbors was a nurse and assisted.

The Jackets (at least then) did nothing as far as setting up a support system for players. Welcome to Columbus, have fun, see you at practice! So all the players have is themselves, and if one of them turns rotten, a lot of them can sour.

I want Murray sticking up for his captain. At least if he engages it brings others in and let them settle it. I don't need him fighting but sometimes you do what you have to do.

in other news, Lehtora got hit by Kesler last night in the Blues/Ducks game... Backes tried skating in there but did you see who beat him to it? Vladimir Tarasenko!!!... the NHL goal leader jumped in to fight Kesler after the hit... and its not like it was even a dirty hit, but Blues showed not to hit their guys

Don't forget Nash.
I also didn't mention Carter and Gaborik, who also were labeled as "lazy bums" during their short stint here, but became a leaders of the cup winning team. I'm not gonna comment on the post where someone pointed out at the differences between them, you can find it even between 2 twins.
7 different players were labeled this way in Columbus and became a stars on another teams. Something is really wrong in Columbus.

Well Lehterä and Tarasenko go back like Jarmo Kekäläinen and Lehterä or Jarmo Kekäläinen and Tarasenko. Way back.

My recollection of Gaborik was he wanted to stay in Columbus after being traded by the Rangers. The problem was he wasn't producing at a high enough level and was injured part of the time. Jarmo felt it wasn't worth a new contract for what seemed a declining player and got the best offer, which happened to be from LA. On that team, with a higher skill set of players surrounding him, he flourished and once again made Columbus look bad for the trade.

Hopefully Prout or Boll destroy some faces tonight if that dude doesn't get suspended. Delayed response but would certainly be nice to have us come out focused on payback and a W.

Prout has to be playing to be able to do anything. The best thing they can do is play their game and win.

No penalty or suspension at all for Malone. Principle point of contact to the head is fair game again, I suppose.

I hope Prout goes in and knocks his ass out. A routine fight is not pay back for Malone. That's his day job.

If the best offer was Matt Frattin we probably should have just kept Gaborik. IMO that trade was the biggest head scratcher so far during Jarmo's tenure.

I'm going to reserve judgement until I see the Department of Player Safety's video. IIRC Malone has never been suspended, so they may be giving him the benefit of the doubt on this one.

We've got multiple angles on this one. You can see it's clearly not a shoulder to shoulder hit. Arm first, with the principle point of contact being the head.

Prout has one use- to knock some other guys head in. Tonite that is needed. Let him play but make sure he nails Malone in the first period. Maybe we play seven d men to allow for a game misconduct for Prout. But I do want to see Malone held accountable for what he did.

LEMME TELL YA SOMETHING RIGHT HERE. THIS TEAM RIGHT HERE WILL NEVER WIN BECAUSE THEY'RE ALL GUTLESS AND SOFT. LOOKIT THIS HERE, STEVIE YI-ZERMAN GETS HIT AND EVERYONE STANDS AROUND DOING NOTHING. HERE'S KOZLOV AND HERE'S SOFTOV AND HERE'S WHATEVEROV JUST DOING NOTHING. AND LOOKIT THIS DEFENSEMAN, NICKY LIDSTER. JUST STANDS THERE LIKE A TYPICAL SWEDE. THE PLAY'S IN THE CORNER, SO HE'S NOT GONNA APPROACH IT SINCE WE ALL KNOW SWEDES WON'T GO INTO CORNERS. THIS TEAM WILL NEVER WIN SINCE THEY WENT ALL SOFT. (Don Cherry, circa 1994 with Detroit. True story.)

I REMEMBER ONE TIME WHEN I WAS WITH BOSTON AND WE CALLED UP THIS KID WITH ONLY ONE HIP, SO HE LEANED ALL THE WAY OVER TO ONE SIDE. ANYWAY, HE WENT INTO THE CORNER AND GOT BUMPED BUT HE WENT DOWN BECAUSE HE ONLY HAD ONE HIP. AND DONNY MARCOTTE CAME OVER SENT A MESSAGE BY SPEARING THAT GUY IN THE EYEBALL. OF COURSE, HOCKEY WAS HOCKEY BACK THEN, SO HE GOT UP WITH ONE EYE AND FOUGHT DONNY AND THEY HAD A GO AT IT. THAT'S WHY MY LUNCHPAIL AC WAS A TOUGH TEAM, AND WHY THIS GUTLESS RED WINGS TEAM WITH ALL THESE GUTLESS RUSSKIES AND CHICKEN SWEDES WON'T EVER WIN ANYTHING.

Defend Murray's cowardice anyway you want. Lame sarcasm is evidently the best you can muster. Any teammate worth his salt would have gone after Malone. True Story.

I do agree with cyclones rock that Murray should have at least went over to Malone. I don't think he needed to fight him, but damn, someone should have at least got in his face when it happened. I don't think Foligno, or anyone else, will appreciate the video after they go over film together.

Too far. Sitting anonymously at a keyboard and accusing an NHL player of cowardice is despicable. Nobody gets to the top level in a game like hockey without dedication, toughness, and plenty of courage. Stick to your front office screed, it's at least marginally defensible.

Would all the Joey backers please become Preds fans and leave the rest of us the hell alone. We are Jackets fans. You want to follow Joey, become a Preds fan.

I am serious. But please just get the hell off this board and stop making everyone else miserable.

I agree. Read the Preds board this morning and it seemed many of our posters who stay here and cry about Joey already made that jump, haha. So many cbj posters engaged in their gdt, lol.

I felt the same way about a different trade once, but my team is my team and I'd never be as dramatic and juvenile as some "regulars" in this board are now. Suck it up fanboys.

Whatever, Pete. Thanks for being defining my hfboards moral code for me. Really good of you to do so.

Hockey players with a pair defend their teammates when they are victims of cheap shots. Murray saw what happened. The other Jackets on the ice may not have. Murray did nothing. THAT is indefensible.

They will all take note of what Murray didn't do. I'm sure that they have already.

Murray's not a fighter. At least a strong facial and getting in his face and a willingness to fight if need be was in order. Murray wasn't even close to be willing to do that. Wimp of the highest (lowest) order that one is.
