Sure, his numbers weren't that good, but he played an excellent cycling game and was reliable defensively. He was valuable to have in a Top 6 if he was well surrounded, or if you had a defensive team, or if you played in a league where size mattered (which is why he was drafted so high in 1996, the Lindros years). Bobby Holik was more valuable than his stats for similar reasons.

Zubrus played 1300 NHL games. He was good.
