Big Game Story: The last of five meetings this season, The Colorado Avalanche won the first three before the Los Angeles Kings took home a 4-1 victory on Feb. 23.
The Kings are fourth in the Western Conference standings but are only one point ahead of the San Jose Sharks and have played one more game. They can't afford a
fourth loss this season to the Avalanche, who are going for a sweep of two games in Southern California after beating the Anaheim Ducks 4-1 on Wednesday.
Kings need to remind the Avalanche which team won the Stanley Cup Championship. GO KINGS GO !!!

[fieldset=COACH & PLAYER QUOTES]
PlayerampCoachQuotes_zps5a343821.jpg

137515404_slide.jpg
Forward & Team Captain DUSTIN BROWN said:
"Yeah, Quick was great. Even if you look at the goals they scored in the third, I mean there’s not much you can do on a lot of them. We let our goalie down for sure tonight. He’s one of those guys that’s been there for us over the last three years. Like I said, we’ve got to not let that happen again.” (On not being able to dwell on a loss at this point of the season) … “It’s the hard part about the season and the great thing about the season is we have an opportunity to get back on track right away. That’s what our focus will be tomorrow.” (On if there’s concern of Tuesday’s issues seeping into Thursday’s game) … “I think it’s up to us both individually and collectively to make sure it doesn’t seep into [Thursday]. That’s our job in here, to be ready to go next game. That was probably one of the worst periods we played all year, and like I said, we have an opportunity to rebound and come back, and it’s important for us to do that.”."
Forward & Alternate Captain ANZE KOPITAR said:
"We didn’t really play our game in the first two, and then the third was just a terrible period for us. Our line can’t get scored on four times in one period. It definitely wasn’t a good period. No, I think definitely we’re not going to forget about [it]. For sure, we’re going to talk about it and put it behind us after that. With the schedule that we have, we can’t really look back too much. But we can’t just forget about this period. We’ve got to address it. A period like this, it’s unacceptable. Everybody knows within this room, so we’ve got to be a whole lot better on the next game. We just were making too many turnovers. A team like they have, and the skill that they possess, they’re going to capitalize on that, and they did."
Defenseman ROBYN REGEHR said:
"Yeah, we didn’t come out and play in the third period the way we wanted to. We talked about in here about having a really good opportunity to get some big points and playing a very desperate team. Just came out and had too many turnovers. My two plays there directly were responsible in two goals against, and you just can’t have that, not in a very tight hockey game like that where you’re just battling for every single chance that you can get."
Defenseman MATT GREENE said:
"It felt good. It’s good to get back out there. It’s good to get off the bike or whatever else they’re giving you to get your cardio in. It’s been a welcome relief skating for the last couple weeks. It’s been fun. Yeah, rehabilitation gets old. It gets old. All that stuff does. But it’s good, too, just being around the guys a little bit more, getting a chance to kind of interact and be a part of the team again.” (On whether he feels like a “pseudo assistant coach”) … “I don’t tell them anything. These guys get enough coaching. They’re all good enough, too. There’s a reason they’re all here playing. Guys don’t need it from anybody else who’s not around the team, so I just be there for a pat on the ass more than anything else.” (On his timetable) … “Try to get out here with some practices with these guys and see how it feels to get bumped around and maybe to give a hit. I think that’s when your real conditioning comes into play, you know, if you can get physical in the corners still…That’s probably my next step, is just getting in some real practices.” (On when he expects that to happen) … “Hopefully tomorrow for pre-game skate, maybe get out there with the guys a little bit. It’s just tough right now because there’s not a lot of spots in between games to get some good practices in, but I’m sure the coaches will figure out something.” (On whether he has noticed any progress from when he first started skating) … “Yeah. Everything loosens up a little bit more. It’s just like coming off any injury. There’s always stiffness. The more stuff you do, the more you get ramped up, it gets a little stiffer. It gets a little heavier, but it’s feeling good right now.”."
Head coach DARRYL SUTTER said:
" I think our top guys struggled the whole game, the top two lines both had a real rough night, quite honest. So they didn't really 'fall off'. They had a rough night, and whether it was schedule, travel, fatigue, you know what? We're past that in a hurry. Sure there's red flags, and you do keep pushing forward," Sutter told the Kings' official website. "I mean, when isn't there a red flag, and when don't you push forward? Every game there's a red flag for every team. So whether it's individually or team-wise, it's all different, and they're not all the same. That's part of it. But you know what? You don't have to re-teach," he said. "These guys, there's a reason they're the defending Stanley Cup champions, right? Because when they have a rough game, they're able to handle it properly."

- UPCOMING SCHEDULE / 8 Games 'til PLAYOFFS ! -
Schedule4-10-13_zps8df60d29.png

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

Quick just got smoked by a non-playoff team (at the moment). Swallow the pride already and ride with the better goalie this season.

What the hell quick did not get smoked. He was pretty much the only one who showed up. That loss is on the rest of the team, Not quick

LOL, of course the defense let him down. But do you also remember when he would STEAL games for us (kinda like what Lehtonen did against us a couple of times this year)? That has yet to happen this year so there's obviously something wrong with him this year.

Yes he is having an off year, but You can't expect him to steal a game like that when the entire team stopped playing D.

I'm a huge Jonathan Quick fan. I would love nothing more than to see him make me take my foot out of my mouth and have another magical ride to the finals.

But I'm at the point now where I really feel like the Kings have to consider using the player with the (far) better stats. I know we invested alot in Quickie and I think he will return to form next season but for now I think Berns is the better choice for big games.

I know Sutter will not let this happen unless Quick really becomes unglued but it's one of the only things I can think of that I would disagree with him on. But, as usual, let's wait and see.

We lose tonight and it's definitely nervous time for me. And I'm an eternal optimist for the Kings.

But I'm at the point now where I really feel like the Kings have to consider using the player with the (far) better stats.

Throwing out the last game (which you need to do - Quick had zippo to do with that abortion), he's actually been generally solid for a month now. I think his missed offseason for training due to his surgery hurt him a lot, and he's been basically using the shortened season to get back in shape.

I'm not worried about Quick at all. He's gotta be the guy. The Kings are making the playoffs - ideally in the 4-7 range. They need to ride Quick to get him ready for another run. Bernier is not getting playoff starts.

I think quick looked really good last game until the team collapsed. But I want Bernier just my preference.

Looking for a solid 60 and a big W tonight.

In the meantime, since 1 year ago today the Kings magical run to the Cup began with that epic 4-2 win against the Canucks, I celebrated by watching the video highlights of that including Kessler's embarrasing cartwheel down the ice and Richards destroying Burrows with 30 seconds left and then Burrows trying to come back at him after. Love that game...

I know exactly what you mean and I agree with you that Berns probably wont see a start in the playoffs. I've seen improvement also and it's not like I think Quick is a liability. I just think Bernier has more to prove and could be the hungrier goaltender for our stretch run.

I've certainly been wrong in the past and I feel silly doubting coach Sutter as he's eerned alot of credit with me. I'd love nothing more than to be taking my foot out of my mouth in a few months.

And then Richards shoved him down again

As I was lucky enough not to see the last game, I expect there won't be a repeat. Go Kings!

Might wake up tomorrow, and it'll be 10 years since the Kings won the Cup. That was a fast year.

The Avs have the worst record in the league, the worst road record in the league, and they played last night. It has all the makings of a Colorado win, but the Kings can't let that happen.

LOL, of course the defense let him down. But do you also remember when he would STEAL games for us (kinda like what Lehtonen did against us a couple of times this year)? That has yet to happen this year so there's obviously something wrong with him this year.

he's saving those games for the playoffs
