frfr. Some behind the play stick chops to the skates, an-excuse-me little cross check below the back pads while not anywhere near the play to get under their skin. No need to always decimate with a check, there are plenty of other ways to be effective

Not to make everything a referendum on leadership but where are the vets telling him this? Or the coaches? it seems like they just tell this guy to go out there with no plan of attack. It also looks like Rempe watched Trouba's intimidation style and took notes. the problem is, Rempe is physically incapable of throwing a hit of that magnitude that isnt dirty.

Vesey has always looked like a "Band of Brothers" extra that doesn't make it.

Imagine the Stars had the Ranger's fans? This blow up wouldve happened 3 seasons ago after they never got back to the Cup.
Their finishes in xGF% since the Cup appearance:

7th, 13th, 9th, 3rd, 7th (current)

I know not everyone puts stock in the analytics, but this fanbase's displeasure is rooted in the brand of hockey, not the results.

Expectations killed the Rangers vets. Dallas doesnt have real expectations in hockey.
Theres a lot of truth to that. The NY market is relentlessly critical in pretty much all sports. It turns the players into head cases. Best example of this is A Rod. Total head case.

We overblow the whole NY market thing on here. At least in hockey.

You can personally cost the Rangers a Stanley Cup and you'll be out of the headlines the next day when somebody on the Yankees farts.

Nobody gives a f*** about hockey.

The Rangers went to the Cup in 2014 and blew it up 3+ years later because the natives were getting restless. Nill can just keep doing what he wants forever without any kind of pressure. Solid team but they are about as real a Cup contender as we were coming into the season.

The natives were getting restless because the team already sucked in 15-16. The letter went out in 17-18. Two seasons and change there of being a bad team. It's not comparable.

Like I said, not everyone is going to care about analytics, but they're also not stupid. They know when the Rangers are winning despite never having the puck.

If the Rangers were a legit top-10ish team and maybe had their hats in the ring, there wouldn't be anywhere near as much tension. Nobody believes it. A lot of people didn't believe it last year.

You're wrong on this. All the players feel this heat that you claim doesnt exist. You dont think expectations have gotten to Chris Kreider after all these years? The Rangers are very lucky right now that the Jets and Giants are so bad. And the national media has been hammering us all season. We're an Original 6 franchise. It's real.

I think 9 out 10 people living in New York City would say "who the f*** is that?" if you showed them a picture of Kreider.

That's still a million people (825K or something like that but who is counting) who would know who he is. Not to mention he rest of the tri-state area that has plenty of Ranger fans and gets covered by New York based media. The franchise wouldnt be worth 3.5 billion if no one cared.

People care. 100% they care. Its all over the newspapers and tv. Maybe at games, in msg, people are there to have fun and its not a hostile crowd. But read a little ny post or podcasts or the Athletic or even on channel 7 national broadcast commentary theres a lot of criticism. People love to hate on NY. A lot of the criticism is warranted but its relentless. Hell, Im critical all the time. But in NY, youre in the spotlight. Mika is in the spotlight. Kreider, Laf theyre all in the spotlight that theyre having a shit year. In another market the criticism is softer. The elbows arent as sharp. Its obv hard for the players to not let it get in their heads.

The Rangers, any way you slice it, are icing one of the most disappointing 1st overall picks in modern NHL history. Where's all this media you guys are telling me about? I haven't heard Lafreniere's name mentioned by anybody but Sam Rosen.

Within the bubble of hockey media, yes. New York is a big deal. The New York scene is a big deal within everything.

But like, just reading the Post or turning on the news? Where is it?

If that happened to Knicks, it would be bigger news than the presidential election.

Because of the sheer magnitude of the other teams playing here (the Yankees, Mets, Knicks, and Giants are four of the biggest teams in professional sports), I would argue that New York is up there with easiest markets to play hockey in.

The Rangers get virtually no coverage outside of their own tv station and their own beat. Every team has that.

Yeah, Larry talks about the team. Show me one clip of Francesca's show, or Kay's show, or Tierney's show grilling the Rangers. Maybe Boomer now and then because he's a fan. That's about it.
