I don't mind waiting to put Kaliyev in, give him some more practice time, but on the other hand we absolutely know what we'll get with Johnny Brodz and it's maybe another game of looking good and then he'll disappear for the most part because lots of these guys can only keep up their impact for a short period of time. which is fine for a fill in but not for a regular roster spot

I think that's fair but also completely different than saying we're going with the same lineup because the lineup played well and we won.

Bringing in a local guy who grew up going to games at the Garden is always cool. Kaliyev played wit K'Andre and Berard at the WJC. Channel that into something good Artie and you can be here a long time.

I like Brod. He's deliberate with the puck on his stick instead of slowing it down with the intention of reacting. He has speed, and he's decent at retrieving dump ins. His shot selection isn't the best, but he shoots. We are generally lacking in all of these qualities among our forwards.

And he's carved himself into a decently useful player after being written off as a AAAA player, and it's easy to root for that.

I don't know if I agree, but I don't feel strongly enough outright to say that you're wrong. All I know is that for as long as I've been a Rangers fan, I've seen a revolving door of a hundred or so egregiously putrid hockey players suiting up and playing regular minutes, and for my money Brod can actually play puck, which is more than I can say for a lot of guys — Rempe, to use a recent example.

The rangers need Rempe to stop seeking out these predatory hits like our former captain did. That's not helping anyone and actively hurting him and his development. Look at our last game against the devils. No Rempe (or Trouba or Kreider for that matter) and it was open season on Fox, Panarin and Lafreniere from the first minute of the game. Rempe needs to play an Edstrom like game and only start causing a ruckus when the other team steps out of line. otherwise he's hurting his teammates most.

It was a Jekyll and Hyde situation. Once he develops some canny discipline and learns to stir the pot of shit in a more devious, calculating, evil way while staying within the boundaries of the law we will have a fearsome weapon at our disposal. His discipline needs aging in the fine Slovenian oak cask so he emerges at his true fearsome potential while keeping concussion causing collisions at a de minimus level.

I think maybe Cuylle or Bedard is our man for an altercation. Someone with some fire in their belly. Winning is the most important thing though. Don't go looking for trouble but answer the door if they ring the bell.

Someone needs to tell Rempe he doesnt need to hit guys in the head to get a reaction from them. All he has to do is stand near the goalie and the other team will react like a territorial animal.

frfr. Some behind the play stick chops to the skates, an-excuse-me little cross check below the back pads while not anywhere near the play to get under their skin. And when they whack you back you laugh in their face and skate away. No need to always decimate with a check, there are plenty of other ways to be effective
