I assumed that his poor play immediately after the trade from Columbus to Winnipeg was just an adjustment period considering how he played for (most of) the following season. It really looks like he just doesn't care to play the way that got him that contract. There were so many red flags but at the same time you can see why someone would take that risk in just assuming that his play would get more consistent once he was in a place he wanted to be in.

Can you cut him some slack, please? The guy is trying to focus his energy on what he’s gonna have for dinner tonight. Can’t expect much more out of him on the ice with attention elsewhere.
