I just don't see the thing with McQuaid for a lot of this fanbase.

He's a tough dude and he grows a mullet in the playoffs sometimes.

Did I miss some other asset?

I've been saying the same thing for years. In his prime, in the 2011-13 version of the NHL he had some value as a bottom pairing guy. But injuries have slowed him and the league is different. You're left with a poor skating guy who can't handle the puck and has questionable decision making. He's still strong and tough but I'm not sure that's enough and it definitely isn't enough for what he's making on the cap.

I like him. He and Krug are good together. He is a good third pairing stay at home d man....and one of the very few who will stand up for his team mates.

Seems to me like he is obedient to Julien's system and is lack of NHL skill is widely excused for said adherence.

No lie, I love when he gets in the occasional scrap. And I love his attitude. But the long-term commitment from the organization and unending trust with his caliber of hockey player gets to me a little bit.
