There is, and we generally do very well in that regard. For all the advanced stats folks Is there a way to see shot quality? I don’t think this is a case of goalie playing on his head but more the leafs just shot everywhere and a lot of the time they’re not quality shots. I could be wrong so don’t freak out on me lol.
To my eyes the issue is the way we generate chances. Slow buildup, a lot of individual plays very few quick strike attempts. Ie. we have possession, move the puck well to create a seam or mismatch and Tavares (or whoever) makes a nice move, gets to the slot and takes the shot. It’s a great chance but Tavares has had the puck on his stick for a while, the goalie had lots of time to come out and get set, it’s going to take a perfect shot to score.
NHL goalies are good, even on great looks if they are set and at the top of the crease they will stop most shots.
