I don't understand Holl, he has a hard time with grinders and basic positional play, but then he'll play a McDavid or Panarin racing at him perfectly every time.

Because he has great gap control against speed players and uses his size and wingspan well.

1 on 1 takeouts are easier than tracking play. You have 1 job on a takeout, but positional play needs everything.

Nylander does not move his feet at all on the PP. He locks into the half wall and plants his feet.

If he commands the puck and circles into the middle he's a huge shot threat but he defers way too much.
ive always said that one big issue with our PP, our players stand around too much, we need to be constantly rotating and moving...also get a dman with an actual shot out there

For all the advanced stats folks Is there a way to see shot quality? I don’t think this is a case of goalie playing on his head but more the leafs just shot everywhere and a lot of the time they’re not quality shots. I could be wrong so don’t freak out on me lol.
Differentiate from shot quantity

Marner in a bumper = WASTE!

break that PP up into 2 units ffs
It's early, but I agree I'm not liking Marner in the bumper spot either. I think we need the PP to be fluid I'd like to see the forwards rating into different positions to mess with teams' coverage. Nylander and Matthews should themselves in the bumper spot every now and then.

Cant ask for a better period except for a couple goals obviously. Gonna need a tip or screen to beat this Rangers goalie

You could actually extend this criticism to the rest of the PP too.

Everybody seems so obsessed with staying in their areas. Coaching needs to be better.
