That assist was definitely Kravtsov and it's reflected that way on NHL.com

Gotta play stout in front of Sh
Trouba was left in a tough spot there. Miller was MIA and he had Bitchnikov driving to the net AND Necas open back door.
That was really a situation where one of the forwards needed to recognize what was going on behind them. It's a situation where Vesey was the closest player to Necas, but he didn't recognize it. In that instance, I suppose he is also watching to make sure the puck doens't go behind him to a cutting D. But in that moment, he was really the closest person. Laffy, Miller and Chytil were not in a position to do anything, they took themselves out of the play in part because there was a keep in at the point. Both goals in fact have come from the Rangers failing to clear. There D zone positioning hasn't been terrible, but they are so worried about being in the right spot, they're not actually taking their men out of the play. Gotta be better there. But all in all it wasn't a terrible period. I didn't hate it. I would like to see them get pucks in deep and create some cycling. But they did get a dirty goal from just trying to get a shot on net. The very beginning of the game, they had a few shifts where they controlled the puck but immediately just took everything to the very outside. Again, not a terrible period. But we need to get some honest goals against this team and we need to be better (yet again) in our own paint. That is our achilles heel and Carolina's strength. Winning the paint in the O zone.

Lafreniere f***s up defensively, but then Miller says you know what let me make it worse and immediately go to the player high up on the boards and forfeit a 2-on-1 down low. Does he not know how to count and see 3 teammates in front of him by the blueline?

If Gallant had any sense of a system, Miller would have learned this shit by now. The individual players as a whole have no idea what to do on defense.

I think they are mixing up 74 and 24, they even announced Kakko, but it was Kravtsov. Good for him either way.
Happens to me all the time. Same handedness and similar skin complexion, left-handed shots … easy to make that mistake.

I agree, spot on. It seemed like the Rangers best chances came early and then Carolina settled in. Carolina is so damn aggressive they’re gonna have to make quick plays to try to catch them in an odd man rush.

I seriously take a long look and see if Panarin can be moved in the off-season.

He's becoming a massive defensive liability and I'm just tired of seeing the kids blocked, with Othmann next to come up next year.

Last thing I want to see is a 4th top propect wing having to play 8 mins a night on the 4th line.

I think they just need to focus on getting the puck out of their own end to relieve the constant pressure by Carolina. Flip the puck high and out. I don't think their dmen are that great at corralling and bounces could give them trouble. It's their pressuring forwards mostly that create their quick transitions. Use the glass, use the sky, get it past their 3 forwards using the air above and skate into the puck when it's coming down. Rely less on chipping the puck out or passing it out of the zone. With their pressure, those plays are bound to be grenades.

I mean I feel like there is something to be said about common sense. You have 5 guys on the ice, you see 3 of your teammates at the blueline with the play behind them, you probably shouldnt be shooting to the side boards giving up prime real estate and spatial coverage, system or not
